    Gpu error seems straightforward .
Does anyone got any experience with this BGA chips?

Needs just reballing or a new BGA?
    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Macbook Pro 15' 2008/2009

if datacode is 2009 or newer i think a reball is good.

edit: there is a way with script to make working only the intel. u can try that and see if u get no more errors.

hard thing in macbook is taht gpu place is not market in each side, so solder it back in right position is a bit hard.

      Thanks for your input!

Gonna tell that to the owner and see if he wants to try that script to force only Intel graphics.

Made a reballing on a MacPro late 2011, no markings and it went well.
Of course, that doesnt mean it's a garantee, cause it was my first one

I'll update post if the owner wants to proceed (almost for sure ).

      Cheers!

        Re: Macbook Pro 15' 2008/2009

GT330 is known for issues in Macbook Pro due to the very poor cooling of the machine. Reballing should work, but be careful with the temperatures, don't heat it up more than you have to. If the chip has run at very high temps for extended amounts of time it may die during the process.

Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
          by envym
          Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
          by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
          • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
            • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
          • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
            • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
          • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

          Macbook pro 13 mid 2009 ppbus_s0_lcdbklt_pwr Problem
          by NConstantinou
          Dear All

          i have a board for Macbook pro 13" A1279 mid 2009 k24 2.26 with missing PPBUS_S0_LCDBKLT_PWR.
Q9806 which i beleive is the driver of it, pins 3&4 have 12.6v but pins 1,2,5,6
which are the outputs i have nothing.
checking Q9806 for short it seems ok.
i used my power supply and i appiled 1.5v to see if enable pin on U9701 will enable and it's ok(1.5V)
the output of Q9806 on schematic says 12.6v. can i get this voltage from somewhere!

          thanks
