Hi Guys,
I'd like to start by mentioning that I'm a complete newbie at electronics and motherboard repair so please be patient with me if I sound a little confusing at times. I am however, learning fast and enjoying the ride!
I have quite a few issues with this HP probook 450 and i'll try to go through them once I get past understanding this one hurdle.
Initial problem : Orange LED was on when the charger was plugged in and Power Button LED came on when button was pressed. Both lights turned off after about 8 seconds and nothing started up.
While diagnosing the Power Supply controller in the picture shown, I may have shorted the 5VDSP at pin 1 and ENTRIP at pin 2. Since then, I no longer have an orange LED when plugging in the adapter. I now have a white LED which continuously flashes and the Power Button LED comes on without even pressing the button and stays on.
Pin1 of this controller shown in the image is now at 2v and RSMRST at the SIO is no longer present.
At the top of the page it says " Leave Entrip1 floating or drive it above 4.5v to shut down channel 1". I assume that is what I did, shut down channel 1.
My questions are:
What is channel 1?!
What does it mean to 'shut down' a channel?
Is there any way to reverse this?
How come I get 5v at the coil at PL302, (+5VDSP towards the right), yet I only have 2V at pin 1 which should be coming from the same source, if i'm right on that?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you
