I still beleive kbc is faulty but no harm in replacing charging ic first.

Ok thanks. What are the substitute for this IC ? I dont think I have this particular IC.

afaik, there is no substitute for OZ8681. You can get this ic on HP G6 series mb like quanta r12/13/23 if you have scrap mb of those series.

Replaced the charging IC and the MB seems to be charging the battery just fine.
