Dell cedar amd mb goes in suspend mode suddenly

MB CODEELL CEDAR AMD MB 13283-1

This mb came dead to me. There was corrosion around PU4501 which i've corrected and even replaced the ic with same part number(new). The laptop boots fine, goes to windows desktop but suddenly shuts down. There is no pattern of shutdown time. Sometimes it shuts off in 1-2 min, whereas on couple of times it runs for 40-50 mins. On restarting the laptop i find its resuming-so not shutdown in the perfect sense.

    Steps taken:
    01.Replaced PU4501(twice-both new)
    02.Replaced KBC Nuvoton 285
    03.Bios flashed.
    04.Sound,lan,card reader chip removed.

There is no corrosion elsewhere, no liquid spill. I coul'nt locate the LID SW on this laptop anywhere. On screen panel, there is no magnet raising my suspicion of no lid sw on mb.

    I get 3.7V on PL4501(should be 3.3V) and 5.1V on PL4502.

    AMD mb-so no me region.

I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions friends??

According to the schematic the lid switch is LIDSW1 ,goes to LID_CLOSE# - TOUCH_PANEL_INTR# - TP_RS

I recommend that you install a complete Linux on this weird laptop. Linux is supposed to print some messages while shutting down. you can also test the laptop using Ultimate Boot CD.

I've the schematic and noted that but physically i couldnt find any lidsw on mb,usb extension, power switch.

Try to monitor voltage on pin 17 (LID_CLOSE#) of EC anyway.

it remains at 0V even when it goes in suspend mode.

I tried clean install of windows 10 on this laptop. It went into suspend mode during setup(almost 80% windows loaded). Same thing happening with linux install.

LID_CLOSE# should be high so that's probably the problem.

Yes, i do agree on that but i could'nt locate lidsw on this mb and kbc i've replaced(new). So really couldnt findout the reason behind it.

Are you sure it's not temperature heat protection?
Can you feel the heat coming out?
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Well there should be a hall sensor somewhere.
If you really cannot find it you can at least cleanly cut the trace going to the EC pin 17 and jump 3D3V_S5 to the EC pin 17. That should confirm if it's the problem.

The datasheet for the hall switch https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...effc8f10ac.pdf
Its a SNT-4A 4 pin IC, so that should make it easier to find... .Is there a magnet embedded in the bezel .

Yes, sure its not related to temp. Fan always spins and the onboard cpu is not that hot.

I think you are looking at wrong schematic. As per dell cedar beema schematic on page 64, hall sensor is 3 PIn.

Finally a big thanks to piernov. Yes there is a hallsensor located between hdmi and lan port but its not there-seems someone who worked earlier has removed it. There is no magnet in the panel either-so that make me confused.

O volts on all pins of LID sw. resistance on pin3 of lidsw was very low. Finally checked C6402 and it was leaky though it appears fresh. Removed C6402 but still 0V on all pins of lidsw though resistance is good now.

As a last resort, as per piernov's advice i cut track of pin17 of kbc and applied 3D3V_S5 directly on pin17. All is well now and its working for more then 2 hours on video.

Thank you all who bothered to answer/help.

Yes ,i had 4-5 schematics open at the time comparing TOUCH_PANEL_INTR# . The hall sensor datasheet still has some good info .Glad you fixed it
