Hi guys this laptop has a bit of a history. Someone else has tried to repair it. When it came to me it was partially dismantled and has a new screen fitted
The owner says it worked for a while after the screen was fitted, then the screen started to go 'funny' but I didn''t really get to the bottom of what they mean. They said it works with an external monitor
What I found is, the screen is blank, it has backlight but no image and after a little while the backlight goes off. I don't get an image on an external monitor.
All the leds are lit up and I cant hear the HDD heads moving (unless it is very quiet). Holding in the power button it shuts down again
I tried removing the HDD and I tried removing the DIMM - to see if I get a beep code, but I don't. I put those back again.
I then connected an external USB keyboard to see if the Caps Lock Light works but it doesn't, but for some reason once i connected the keyboard, I no longer get the backlight on the screen and the Number Lock and Caps Lock LEDs on the laptop flash three times. The flash code continue five times then stop.
Any idea what the code means, and why the fault changed once I attached an external keyboard. Disconnecting the external keyboard I still have the flash code now
