    DELL XPS 13 9365 - USB-C problem

    XPS 13 9365
    BAZ80 LA-D781P REV:1.0 (A00) 2016-09-13

The laptop has two USB-C ports. On the port on the left, the charging of the laptop works, but when I connect the flash drive, I immediately have a Blue Screen "driver_verifier_dma_violation". It does not detect the connected mouse / keyboard at all, nor does it display the image on an external monitor.
On the port on the right there are mass storage devices (flash drives), a keyboard, a mouse etc. It does not display the image on an external monitor.
Such glitches can indicate faulty CPUs?

I replaced SSD and install new OS W10, but the effect is the same.
    Visually, both ports look goods.

First, check if there is a known factory issue with the model.

Assuming not, then review the schematics if available.

Suspecting there is an internal usb hub controller to multiply the usb ports.

        Can you confirm this?

Usb c is not much different than older designs but need to review this at each stage. How did you view the DMA crash upon docking?

Try to enter through safe mode of Windows and then dock the usb product. Any crash?

Could be just crapware drivers for starters.

Are you able to boot into Windows?

After restart (Blue Screen when I connect the USB flash drive via OTG cable), I can restart Windows

When i plug in flash drive (left USB-C port) and turn on laptop, the laptop won't turn on (Blue Screen befor Windows start), on right USB-C it it OK. On left USB-C port, when i plug in flash drive, the LED on the flash drive does not light up

This board appears to be also known as:

            LA-D781P XPS 13 9365

I have the schematics for this board but they are encrypted. It is from a paid service we are subscribing to. Perhaps someone else here can supply the PDF?

@mon2 please see the article link at post #2. This model has known problems. Some boards could not be fixed despite the workarounds and firmware updates (from dell forum and reddit).Dell sent out some boards under warranty at the time. Whats not clear is whats been fixed.Did compal revise the whole board or just replace the USB-C controller chips with revised parts ? .Can you post any screenshots from the schematic

I don`t know, there might be a revised part for them. Have you checked for any corrosion inside the ports
