Acer Pred Helios PH315-53-72XD with short to ground. Power adapter is also bad. Trying to determine where to inject voltage. Photos attached. Thanks.

PRB3/46 is likely to be the cureent sensing resistor. Measure resistance on it without any power source. If shorted, you can inject 1V there. -

Resistor is shorted. Injected 1v 2a there, only thing that gets warm is CPU. Caps underneath CPU are OK, seems to be the die itself that is heating. Curtain call time for the CPU?

You measured resistance on both pins of CLR to Ground or between pin#1-2 of resistor itself?? If its short to Ground and injecting heats up Small die on SOC,then its definitely shorted PCH.Comment
