    Ideapad 5 - 1411L05 - BIOS

    Model: 81YH
    MO: MPNXB05150FG
    MTM: 81YHCT01WW

I have an Ideapad 5 that will not post, the fan spins and the power button is flashing.

I removed the BIOS chip and have attached a copy of the original BIOS bin file.

I downloaded the latest BIOS file for the device and extracted the ROM image, which I then converted to a BIN file using the software supplied with my XGPro 2. I have also attached this file to my post.

Unfortunately, the laptop is still not posting and I am basically out of knowledge and ideas.

I would appreciate any assistance to resolve this issue.

Here's your New Bios, it's a Virgin Bios from Lenovo with your DMI.
If your problem is related to Bios issue, that file should fix it.
    Serial Number: MP1S9KRJ.

          Re: Ideapad 5 - 1411L05 - BIOS

Hi all, the power got disconnected while the BIOS was being updated on my 1411L05 laptop and now the laptop does not start up. The fan turns on but the screen is black and does not load up. The motherboard is FLMS0 LA-J551P Rev 1.0.

I have read the corrupt BIOS chip XM25QH128A using a CH341A programmer with the Neoprogrammer app and I have attached the 'Lenovo Backup Corrupt BIOS' file.

I erased the corrupt BIOS using Neoprogrammer and I then wrote the attached DSCN34WW (DOSFLMS0).bin file to the BIOS but the laptop still remains showing a black screen when I switch it on. The fan powers up and then the laptop shuts down after about 30 seconds.

I also tried writing the attached 'AIR-14IIL 2020 FLMS0 LA-J551P Rev 1.0.bin' file to the BIOS after erasing the IC again but I still have the same issue.

Am I meant to be doing something else? Should I be amending any of the attached files before writing them to my BIOS?

I forgot the mention that I verified the IC in Neoprogrammer after writing the .bin file to the BIOS and that all shows ok, so I believe that the BIOS has been written to sucessfully but the laptop still does not boot

                  Re: Ideapad 5 - 1411L05 - BIOS

And what I am unsure of is as to why some people have provided 2 .bin files in the attachments. For example in post #4 above, @hoaca388 had provided 2 .bin files within the rar file 'Ideapad 5-14IIL05_ Type 81YH_DOSFLMS0.rar'.

One is labelled 'Ideapad 5-14IIL05_ Type 81YH_DOSFLMS0.bin' and the other is labelled 'DOSFLMS0_EC.bin'. Am I meant to write both files to the BIOS, or amend them in some way with a hex editor?

In case it is relevant, my laptop model is: 81YH

Hi Moderators, I hope it is for me to create a new post, instead of using this old post, as I think that I now understand that my DMI needs to be added to the virgin .bin file for it to work but I don't know how to do this.

I erased the corrupt BIOS using Neoprogrammer and wrote a new DSCN34WW (DOSFLMS0).bin file that I saw one of the moderators had posted in another post but the laptop still remains showing a black screen when switched on. Fan stays on for about 30 to 60 seconds and then the laptop shuts down.

I am not sure where I am going wrong but I think I understand that maybe I need to customise the new DSCN34WW .bin file with my specific DMI info but I am not sure how to do this. Or is it something else that I need to do?

I'd apprecaite it if you can provide a modified .bin file that will work for my laptop!

                          Re: Ideapad 5 - 1411L05 - BIOS

Thank you @gayyum786 but it didn't work.

The steps that I took were to erase the BIOS with Neoprogrammer. I double-checked that it was wiped sucessfully. Then I applied the .bin file that you provided and verified that the write was successful. But I still have the same issue where the laptop powers on, the fan comes on but the screen is black. Then the fan stops and after maybe 15 seconds, the fan comes on again and runs for about 30 seconds but still nothing on the screen. Then after another 30 seconds, the laptop switches off.

Is there a chance that I need to apply a different .bin file to the BIOS? Or is there some sort of fault on the motherboard? What's the best way to diagnose what the fault may be?

For awareness, I also tried taking the motherboard out and putting it into another spare working Ideapad 14IILO5 chasis, in case the issue was with the other components in the laptop, such as the screen but that still didn't work. And I also put the motherboard from the other working 14IIL05 laptop into my chasis and that worked as normal, so I am confident that the issue is not with the screen or the other components. It has to be with the motherboard or the BIOS chip

Any thoughts on what I can try next?

Hi @qayyum786, do I also need an EC file? And if yes, how do I write the EC file to the motherboard? Is it to the same BIOS chip or to a different chip on the motherboard?

If it needs to be written to the same BIOS chip, is that done before, after or at the same time in some way?

Apologies for the basic questions but the laptop is still not working and I would love to get it fixed today! Thanks
