    Dell latitude 5410 Bios damaged

    Hi, i need help. is there something that i can do to repair my bios chip? its from a dell latitude laptop 5410.

    theres a missing pin on it when i removed it and i know its my fault but i just want to learn to desolder smds. anyway, am i so out of luck here and should order online for replacement bios?

    oh and i dont have any backups of my current bios. how can i reprogram another one without backups?

    ebay seems to have some of the bios chips for sale. Perhaps contact the seller to ensure the firmare is suitable for your machine.

      can i just buy a blank bios chip and flash with a generic bios from the same model?

        Oh, sorry, I did not know the BIOS for this model is so tricky. There is already a lengthy thread on BIOS programming: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-password-8fc8
        Perhaps the experts there can help you more on this.

        For your BIOS chip, do you think there is still some exposed electrical area for that damaged pin for you to solder a fine wire to it?

          i tried writing to it but my ezp2023+ programmer cannot detect it.

          whats the equivalent chip of 25r256jven ?

            Do you have any update about your case? have you tried to check the chips datasheet and try to adding it using the software available on ezp2023+ flasher? or maybe this chip is 1.8v?

            If I were you better check the datasheet first so that you know the right setup.
