    Failed bios flash

Ok so have a laptop coming to me that has a failed bios flash - The system hung and the owner powered the system down - Upon trying to boot the system lights up but no display/backlights etc....

So I could buy another bios and solder it on but where is the fun in that...

I have a raspberry PI that I use to flash the NOR chipsets on playstation 4 when they go corrupt... I have a SOIC 16 to DIP 16 jig for the PS4 NORs and the laptops is a SOIC 8 so I should be able to fit it in..

So my question as I have never done a laptop BIOS before... Can I just get the BIOS files from the manufacturers website and reflash it via my PI or does it have to be a full dump of an existing BIOS?

    Cheers

    Re: Failed bios flash

depends on the size of the bios download vs the chip

With that I am assuming there are usually containers associated with the bios downloads from the manufacturers websites vs the RAW data on the chip?

          Re: Failed bios flash

I know the model of the system is a MSI GE60 2PC-610UK

I will get board numbers once in my possession.

Ok so I get the laptop in - Open her up and guess what I find....

plenty of this over a lot of the board

I very much doubt what the owner said was true - Seems liquid killed this one

                Re: Failed bios flash

Already scrubbed the board down.. No change

                No heat from GPU

                CPU gets BURNING hot

                No Backlight

                No display

                No sound

                Charge and power light work

                Fan Works

That is all - May sell as liquid damaged on eBay but otherwise scrap heap
