Re: lenovo nm-c171 S145-14AST S145-15AST
Apologies if I shouldn't post this here, I am a new member and cannot start a thread yet. I'm trying to fix a possibly corrupted BIOS but do not know the exact model I have here.
The Lenovo IdeaPad has no useful labels on it apart from 'AMD A4', so I'm going on motherboard silkscreen alone:
FS44A&FS54A NM-C171
Rev:1.0
2019-01-02
The BIOS chip is a 8MB W25Q64FW 1.8v SOIC8 that reads okay in a T566 programmer, so I have the BIOS extracted. I downloaded 'aycn28ww.exe' from the S145-15AST Lenovo support page and have copied two ranges of bytes from original to new that I believe to be the DMI, 2A3000h-2A321Fh and 2A4000h-2A423Fh. No idea if I need both, I searched for ASCII 'LENV' and found two matches, the data between each range is just FF.
I have attached the extracted BIOS in case it is important. Please can someone advise if I am doing this correctly? If not, can a patched BIOS be provided?
Thanks.Attached Files

Re: lenovo nm-c171 S145-14AST S145-15AST
Unfortunately, the laptop is still not working. As before the power light comes on solid. This time, however, after about 30 seconds the heatsink fan starts and it didn't do that before re-flashing the BIOS. I will try to find an unused HDMI cable in my piles of cables so I can try the external output.
A thermal camera does not highlight anything that looks wrong either. I've probed all over the board and cannot find anything that seems wrong, but I don't yet have the schematics. Will go and request that now.
