Make a backup of your current bios first,then try the bios at post #14,its an F1 asus service bios.If that doesn`t work then post your laptop serial number, and post a picture of the QR code on the motherboard,like the one in the 4th picture at post #3 .

Thank you for your reply. I tried the recommended bios but the problem didn't go away. The laptop power button lights up, the CPU gets hot, the fan will start when needed - but the screen stays black. The battery light will blink twice, pause and repeat.

Do you think the problem could be bios related?

I attached the motherboard QR and SN as requested.

Mate by sn there is 2 bios files for your unit pls try them
