    Lenovo Thinkpad E590 20NB-0016UK

    Hello all,

I own a Thinkpad E590, was doing your usual tinkering with coreboot, clover, and hackintoshing... Managed to hit the NVRAM Reset button, and assume I've got a corrupt BIOS now.

There is no response from the machine at all... The power button, num lock and caps lock lights come on and it just stays that way until it drains itself of battery. No backlight, fan spin, nothing.

I've purchased a CH341, and have made a backup of my current broken BIOS (attached below). I've also tried a range of other E590 images provided on this forum, from ClearMe to default images - to no avail.

Was hoping someone could be able to patch (or instruct me on how), or point me in the right direction to fix this laptop!

    Here are some specifics:

    Model: Lenovo Thinkpad E590 (Type 20NB, 20NC) - Type 20NB
    S/N: PF-1LZ4DC
    Type: 20NB-0016UK

N.B. All 3 images in the provided are the same and have been verified by checksum.

Wow - thanks for the quick reply. Partial success! The laptop is showing signs of life as it is now posting...

However, there is a Supervisor Password set, which I've not been able to unlock having tried a range of defaults. Also, there are two errors being reported - both are stopping from booting, running diagnostics, etc.

0271: Check Date and Time settings.
0183: Bad CRC of Security Settings in EFI variable.

      A photo is also attached.

Try starting the machine without the CMOS battery or check and replace the new CMOS battery.

Re:0183: Bad CRC of Security Settings in EFI variable
The CRC error could be caused by the file itself or the hard drive. Among are the possible causes of the said error: hard drive corruption, misconfigured files, registry file corruption, cluttered disk or unsuccessful program installation

Press F1 when error message appears.
        Enter ThinkPad Setup menu.
Navigate to the [Restart] menu and check that [OS Optimized Default] is same as you set before. The default setting is On.
Press F9 to reload default setting.
Press F10 to Save and Exit.
Error message will no longer appear.

Obviously, can only attempt to solve 0183 once I get into the BIOS itself. Supervisor Password is still there regardless of the number of times I remove the CMOS Battery, and completely discharge the board... Leading me to believe it is in fact dead.

I will order a replacement in the morning, and advise of any updates.

          Cheers

Bios password? Did you set it before?
