    MSI GF63 MS-16R41 Schmatic request

Hello, I'm trying to repair a MSI GS63 I bought on ebay.

It's pretty clear that 2 little capasitor looking things have blown up.

I'm really hoping someone can help me find out what component I need.

This Schmatic is for MS-16R3, which is nearly the same? Im not 100% sure this is the correct schmatic

I'm almost certain the blown bits on the board image are PL15 and PL17

But the board marks the blown areas as PL16 and PL18.

I feel PL15 and PL17 are what I'm trying to replace because they're so close to the PWR input in the schematic.

Please help me out. I'd really appreciate it!

Ferrite beads not capacitors, should indeed be PL15 and PL17 in that other schematic (80Ω impedance, 6 A current rating, 30 mΩ DC resistance, 0805 package). If they burnt there's most likely something else wrong down the line, and the AC adapter could have been at fault.

Thank you so much. Ferrite beads were what I was looking at buying, but I'm just so new and don't understand a lot of this.

the power supply didnt come with the computer when i bought it, and i unfortunately don't know what happened to the board. Just got it like this.

I also have another identical computer coming that was sold as parts, so I'll have another refrence to help me out as well.

But really thank you so so much!!!

Hey again, I'm having some trouble finding the exact part.

I believe this is it? I'm just not 100% sure

It's also not in stock though unfortunately.

Looks good. Package must be the same, current rating must be same or higher, DC resistance should be same or lower, impedance should be same or higher, but still not a lot of references that match.

Alright amazing! I think I'm gonna buy a few extra incase they blow up again.

You've been a massive help and you've helped me learn a lot! Thank you so much!!

Hey again, so I've replaced the ferrite beads, but still no luck.

However it's having other symptoms. When I plug the charger in, it sparks a little bit.. which i think means its shorted somewhere. And the power supply light flashes, and everytime it flashes, power gets sent through the ferrites I replaced.

The voltage seemed to stop at a 2nd MOSFET looking thing, so i replaced it with the one from my donor board, and the power seems to be flowing though and continuing from there on.

but where can I go from here?

Just continue following the power rail from the power jack around the board until the power isnt there?

But also what are some common things to look out for?

I'm really determined, i want to get this fixed.

I'm a bit frustrated right now so I'm taking a break
