    ASUS X550C mainboard schem/boardview required

Have an ASUS X550C that has suffered the inglorious indignity of having coke spilled on it and subsequently some parts have been rendered a bit questionable.

Does anyone have a schem and possibly a boardview for it?

ps, if you're after boardview software for linux, I'm actively working on a fork of OpenBoardView too at https://github.com/inflex/OpenBoardView

Thanks for that. unfortunately the .fz is an encrypted/encoded format and you need the RC key to decode them (and that's not something I have in the source code I've got for decoding the .fz files. Not a big problem, I should be able to acquire it through some contacts.

      Many thanks again.

All sorted fortunately using OBV. Also picked out a bug in the source thanks to that file (and bug fixed too).

Now to sort out the mainboard fault(s).

Still looking for the schematic for the X550CC R2.0 board if anyone has it. I've been to a few other forums without success as well.

Laptop isn't working quite right on AC power (seems okay on battery), suspecting either the current sense is off a bit or there's too much ripple getting in.

Re: ASUS X550C mainboard schem/boardview required

After a lot of chasing around I find a sufficiently acceptable schematic to work off, specifically the ASUS UX31A2 schem, there's a number of differences but the correlations, particularly in the power generation parts is acceptable (and it uses the UP1589/RT8239 dual switchmode controller).

Oddly, the purchased X550CC boardview doesn't match this one with the under-CPU layout, but does with other areas. Seems like there's a lot of X550CC variants

To the issue at hand, it "feels" like a cap / ripple issue. press the button and it'll flash the LEDs on for a second and then shut down. 5VO is present, 3VO only for that moment. If you have both AC and battery attached, you might every 20~50 presses get it to fire up and from there it usually remains running, until you turn it off and then the cycle starts again.

It is slightly thermally sensitive but I cannot pin it down. There's no tantalum caps on this board, they're all aluminium-polymer types (which is great). Right now my attention is focused on the 5VO generation, even though it runs, I'm sort of suspicious about it.

              Ordered replacement low-ESR (0.012 and 0.009R versions) 150uF caps.

Already swapped the 3 x 22uF 0805 ceramics for the 3VO generation with a 1 x 100uF 1206 that I used to use for NEC TOKIN replacements; that has resulted in a better 3VO line but doesn't solve the issue.

well it does seem , charger issue or bat dc in mosfet ,chek on CPU VCORE VBAT SIDE , if you got 19 volts there , and also if on the second dc in mosfet you got 19 volts on both sides ... it does look to me no power enough on AC and on battery pour charging due to bad dc in . alltough charger could be problematic . but first chek does

Re: ASUS X550C mainboard schem/boardview required

Problem solved. Would have helped a lot if I had the proper schem

In this case, because this board has an nVidia GPU, that was a whole section of tests and subsequent EC input that I didn't check (when using the UX31A2 schem).

Needless to say, fixed now. Was the turn-on resistor for the nVidia GPU power rails generator; it had the pad and resistor end-cap vaporised, wasn't overly easy to see, but taking some macro shots with my camera helped a lot (old camera but still 7mpx).

Not having a decent stereoscope, and lack of schem made this job harder than I'd want to deal with on a daily basis at work. Just glad it's solved now.
