That is the 0.22 Ohms resistor so your meter should show 0.22 Ohms + your meter probes wires resistance. So touch your two meter probes together to see what you get then test that resistor, the meter should then show the resistance of meter probes wires + 0.22 Ohm.

      Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

Have checked my meter, resistance reading between probes at 200 ohm setting is 00.3

Removed all cable connectors from both boards.

Tested RM801 on original PSU, but get different readings at different times. After several seconds, sometimes I get a 1. reading at all settings, other times, at highest 20M setting only, reading varied between 4.5 - 4.68, then again between 12-14 (both on 20M setting), then 0.2 on 20M but gave 1.49 at 2M.

I also tested RM801 on the used replacement PSU, got a 1. on all settings below 20M, but at 20M onetime I got 13.62, then 5.7, then again a 9.4-9.9 (reading moved up and down whilst probes on contacts). Only ever get a 1. on any setting lower than 20M.

BTW, I also tested another board resistor (RB802) and got settled reading on that one on both PSUs, so don't think it's my multimeter faulty.

None of the readings (when I can get one) are anywhere close to a low 0.22ohm reading, do this mean BOTH PSU are duff with bad RM801 (and maybe also other) components?

Have attached pic of replacement board, showing close-up of RM801 with outer coating damaged - am I unlucky in just having purchased another bad PSU board? (did get a full refund from seller).

If so, do you think failed PSU is definitely the root problem (and not the main control board)?

I'm not great at soldering, can't test any Caps, and so replacement boards is easiest, and I can get another used PSU cheap - under £20 ($30) but don't want to keep buying parts and not fix the issue.

That resistor is blown, that bad glue is also not removed and you can see corrosion on the left leg of the resistor due to that bad glue, glue also becomes conductive.

          Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

The blown resistor shown was on the secondhand PSU board I purchased, so do you think the RM801 was also blown on my original PSU, from the first pic I had posted, and the meter readings I gave?

But I haven't cleaned off glue, or tried replacing resistor on either PSU board, , as I'm not skilled at PCB soldering repairs, so is easier to just get another used (but hopefully working!) replacement PSU.

So are you certain it will be the PSU at fault and not the main control board?

          Thanks

Well, based on that information, that resistor is bad, and it may have gone bad because of shorted MOSFET's, caps, etc.
We cannot tell much to know if other boards are OK or not until you get good working power supply first.

              OK, thanks.

I don't know enough about MOSFETS & Caps to start playing around with changing them, so from what you've said, sounds like it is still a bad PSU, so will source another used Board and try that, and hope it works, will post result.

It is power supply due to the fact that 0.22 Ohms resistor is bad as you have tested it.

Absolutely spot on, was definitely the power board - sourced another used PSU on EBay, arrived today, fitted and BINGO! we have a working TV for A low cost. May now even have a go at repairing components on old PSU as have nothing to lose. Thanks Bud.

BTW, did you inspect the glues on the replacement board? They should be removed.
That glue can become conductive and corrosive.

                      Not yet.

Before tackling any bad glue removal, I wanted to check the 2nd PSU board worked ok, else if also faulty, would have to send that back for a refund.

Now I know that this PSU works, even with any 'bad' glue (is there any other kind?), I'm going to try make repairs (replace resistor and glue removal) on both the original PSU, and also the 1st (faulty) replacement board I got.

If I can get one or both of them working again, then at least I will have spare PSU boards, so can then safely attack the glue on the one working board I currently have.

Once again, thanks for the guidance.

                        Hi friends,
I have a Samsung TV with a power supply board BN44-00155A
No image, No back light, (no sound when I press the front buttons)(only red light on the button)

All the connector pins read 0 except for the Standby pin 5V.
If I short the standby and PS pin, the Voltage on the big capacitor read 385Vdc.

I have try to clean the glue but make no different. I don't have anything on hand to test capacitors.

The main board is not sending the PS-ON to turn on the rest of the power supply. You should start a new thread with the make and model of the TV in the header + upload good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards so we can see what we are dealing with.

                            Hi
I just received this LE32R88BD TV from freecyle and it does not turn on. The Standby light is on and when I power the TV on via the remote the led goes out. However, the TV does not turn on nor do the panel buttons work.
I have changed CM861 which had a domed top. RM801 shows 0.3 ohms
There is 5V on the PS pin of the plug.
There is however, no 5.4V, 13V or 12V. the 13V pin ramps up and down between 1.4 and 11.6V.
It would seem a capacitor is charging and discharging.
Can anybody give me a clue as to wher to look please.

Usually a good place to start is test number 3 below. Other test, with tv unplugged from power, unhook cable from powerboard to mainboard, leave unhooked, plug power cord into powerboard, do backlights come on and stay on and are the voltages correct? Could check your diodes and resistors, might want to replace the other caps in that area at least and maybe check all the solder joints. Must be VERY careful whenever working on the HOT/PRIMARY DEADLY side of the powerboard.

I have taken measurements with it plugged in and then switched on.
Just for reference the voltages were pretty much the same on or off.

                                CNM801

                                Pin 1 0.02
                                Pin 3 5.4
Pin 7 11.78 <-> 1.4 It went up and down between these two voltages
Pin 13 1.0 <-> 0.6 It went up and down between these two voltages

CNM803 had 24.4 <-> 22.1 It went up and down between these two voltages

CNM80 All 0V except DET which was 5.4

                                RM801 0.3 ohms

When I had a really good look at the board for the hundredth time I noticed something not quite right with two jumpers ( I think JP829 and JP830 ) hiding behind LM851. These had been eating away by the gung. I was not too sure but they seemed to be joined at each end ? Well they are now.
Plugged it back in and there was the 11.8V and the 5.4V turned it on with the remote and all is well.

                                Thanks for your help.
