Vizio 42" XVT3D424SV No Pic. Vizio Standby flashes 31 to 63 times after unplugged

This is a 42" Vizio LED/LCD Model XVT3D424SV, when first plugged in the vizio standby light flashed from orange to white 31 times, then later it flashed 63 times, but if you leave it plugged in that doesn't happen, it will power on after you wait for the light to stop flashing then it's in standby and the light stays orange, it has backlight only with no picture, so far I have only checked voltages on all visible small fuses on both main board and T-con board and I Do have voltages on both sides of all fuses.
    Main Bd. F1=11.96V, F8= 18.35V and F1=11.96V

    T-Con Bd. F4= 5.15V, F5=11.96 and F6=11.96

attached some pictures I got off the internet but the boards are all the same part numbers as what I have in this Vizio Model.

I'm wondering if it's the eeprom problem, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

If I leave it plugged in and the logo/standby light stops flashing, it goes to normal standby orange light, it will then power on but does Not have a picture, but does have back light. Hopefully someone will help me diagnose and fix the problem. I'm thinking it may be a component failure on the T-con Board but not sure, anyone willing to help? Thanks!

What happen if you disconnect the cable to the T-CON board? These new Vizio may have EEPROM/FIRMWARE problem.

Disconnect which cable? Do you mean Ribbon Cables? they are connected as follows: One to power supply, one to Mainboard, and two under shield appear to go to the LCD Panel. Is there only one to disconnect?

How many ribbon cables are there that go to the T-CON board? Since this is 3-D TV the setup may be more complicated than normal.

The T-Con board is in the middle but at the bottom on this model, it has 2 larger ribbon cables coming out of the bottom they are both under the metal shield, it has one smaller one going to the power supply board and then one medium size going to the mainboard

you can see in far right picture in first posting where the ribbon cables would go if connected, other 2 go under shield.

I disconnected 2 ribbon cables, one from T-CON to Power Supply board, the other from T-CON to Mainboard, had same symptoms with flashing standby/logo light, after flashing stopped TV powered on with nothing no backlights or anything just the white logo, hooked ribbon cables back up and same as above except backlights are on as they were in the beginning.

Is it normal for the newer vizio's to have a blinking logo light after they have been unplugged? Is that some sort of boot process? or is it some kind of error code? Where is the eeprom located? I will buy a new board if necessary but would rather repair at a component level if at all possible. It does power on but no display, has backlights only. can anyone please help with this? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

Yes its normal for the "VIZIO" logo to blink for about 15 - 20 sec if the TV was un-plug. The eprom chip could be under the heat sink or on the solder side of the board. Its most like to be TSOP-48 flash memory chip. This doesn't sound like a eprom problem because the Tv turns on.

Okay, Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it..I'm thinking it may be the T-Con board that's bad but I need more information to troubleshoot it, do you
know of any method to isolate which board has the problem.

                        Thanks again.

The 31 or 63 flashes are probably the standby caps discharging (they will run a TV in standby for a very long time), I doubt they mean a code.

Thanks Tom, now If I could just figure out the problem, I'm thinking of ordering a T-Con Board since this is a newer model TV and there has only been one other same model vizio on this forum that had a problem, although the symptoms were different he had a bad T-con board.

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever resolve the issue? I have the 55" model (xvt3d554sv) and am experiencing a similar issue. I have no sound or image, though yesterday after doing the 30 second reset I got the logo on screen for a couple seconds before the set locked up, flickered the backlight and shut down.

My voltages are the same as yours on the main and t-con boards, though my backlight will sometimes flicker before the set kicks off. My inverter board tests 28.5v on both f1 and f2. I noticed something odd on my tv though; it keeps cycling like its trying to fire up. While the logo is flashing (orange/white) the 12v power is off, 5.1v is still present. When the logo just lights up white every 90 seconds 12v power is present and the blue leds on the inverter board are lit (led1 on, led2 flashing).

As of right now, that's all the tv does. Even with a 30 sec reset it just flashes, I turn it on and the cycle begins. Any suggestions or a service manual link would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry but if I remember I somehow had two different postings about this tv set, anyway just so people know it was the T-con board that was defective and I'm still using this TV 2 years later with no problems, it is normal for this model to have a flashing Vizio logo if the set is unplugged or loses power, it will flash many times.

Is there a Vizio error code manual out there that may be cross referenced with the number of times the Vizio logo flashes? I have a three year old M470NV where the picture froze, but sound kept streaming. Then after a few minutes the screen went black and the Vizio logo began flashing from orange to white 24 times and continues that cycle. I've unplugged the tv for hours and days and it still has not resolved itself. I'm assuming that the number of times the logo flashes may be an indicator of what the problem is? Thanks.
