Zenith Plasma Z42PT320 won't come out of sleep

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this post. I have been looking at this forum quite intensely for the last few days. A family member has a 42" Zenith that is almost 2 years old (out of warranty). She accidentally unplugged it while on and plugged it back in. This is in an old house with old electrical wires in a cheap surge protector. It now tries to turn on but goes into sleep. It clicks a few times and the red light stays on (showing its in sleep mode). I assumed bad caps, so I opened it up and the caps look ok, no visible damage. I tested continuity across the fuses and they all have continuity. I wanted to isolate the problem, so I unplugged the Ysus, the problem continued. I should point out that power comes from the PSU to only the Zsus. The Zsus then connects to the Ysus. When I unplug the Zsus from the power board, the TV stays on. However, since the Y is plugged into the Z, can't they both be bad? I found the Z on ebay for $40 and think I might try that. I do not want to put alot of money into this TV since it cost $350 new. Any ideas, any advice? I have some soldering/electronics experience but I am still learning about these TVs. Thanks again for taking the time to give a novice a hand!
