    Re: Polaroid 3211-TLXB Cap Issue

I assume AS15 is the main chip on the TCon?

gamma issue? .....I have all my voltages on my power supply...should I recap the power supply?

Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot? I read some TVs have a blinking power light for error codes when a TCon or mainboard breaks but only problem is my TV doesn't. The picture is either like the pic or completely white with sound. So does that mean it's most likely a power supply problem?

The AS15 IC is the small IC, it does looks like GAMMA voltages issue. Post good clear pictures of the T-CON board so we can give you the voltage test points to test.

Yep, it does use AS15 Gamma IC U6.
See those test points (by CN2 connector) which are labeled as GMx. Report the dc Voltage readings in sequence

I also noticed the power supply is making some noise...not too loud but audible when I was taking the readings. Not sure if this is an issue because I know power supplies sometimes make noise. I'm all ears for the next step!
EDIT: I used the ground point on the TCon for readings and grounded the chassis that holds powersupply and mainboard to where it's supposed to be screwed down

That is bad, need new T-CON board or replace the IC.

FYI if plotted on a graph a functioning ic will produce a curve headed in one direction. Yours has three glaring faults: same reported voltage GM1->GM7, rising voltage GM8->GM9 and precipitous drop from GM13->GM14 (as well as GM7->GM8).

*disclaimer-all information was discovered by others and may contain errors as reported by me, but you get the idea...

No, otherwise you will not have 13VDC which is generated by the boost converter circuits. The DC voltage on the SMD Fuse of the T-CON board should be about 12VDC.

boost converter circuit?...I will take your word for it!lol I will probably get one off ebay. I see they use this card in multiple brands of TV...is there a firmware issue I would have to worry about in obtaining a new one from a TV other than a polaroid?

Is it possible to replace the AS15 with just a heat gun? I reflowed an Xbox once but never worked with surface mount chips and would like to learn.

Once again thanks for all the help!

replaced the tcon with a supposedly known good one. the polaroid screen comes up properly with black imaged with white letters. The blue no signal screen is there but the letters are faded and the menu box changes colors as it sits there. Video now has NO sound and is super messed up.

                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gQ3...e_gdata_player

My guess is the TCon is bad....but why did I now lose sound is my question?

Sure you got everything hooked up right? That looks like what my Toshiba did when I forgot to plug in a ribbon cable to the crossover board.

T-con possible but that doesn't affect audio you might have something else going on too.

double checked all conections, unhooked them and reconnected them. I Cleaned up the pads where card is mounted as they were a little corroded. The tv now has sound but the picture is really messed up like the video. When the tv was first turned on it had a vertical bar through the display. The Gamma voltages decrease for the first 7 or so test points then go back up. Test point 14 is still 0VDC with this "good" TCon.

Is this TCon really bad ? or do I have some other issue?....because this TCon the picture is way worse than the original TCon.

Question related to the as15 chip. Does it matter if you get the same letter one. Like I have a F that is bad. Can I use a G instead or does it have to be a F

                                  Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                                  🛠 Original Issue
                                  The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
                                  by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

                                  Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
                                  • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
                                  • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
                                  • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
                                  • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
but when I press and hold...

                                  Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:

Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100 - BIOS Issue, Black Screen
                                  by wizard13
                                  Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a BIOS-related issue with my Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100. When I power on the laptop, the screen stays black, and there is no response from the system. I suspect a corrupted BIOS.

I have checked the forum and the available documentation but could not find a solution specific to my issue.
