Element FLX-3210

This tv had been given to me and when I connect the cable and turn the tv on and lights up dim and goes out.

I can't see any image even w/flashlight and I do have sound, the red light in the back of the tv is on.

I don't have a remote so I'm turning the on off button on the tv and it goes from red to blue.

I also contacted customer support for this tv and they said try doing a hard reset, which I did and no change.

Post good clear pictures of the back of the TV so we can see what kind of boards and how they are connected together.

This is basically a Polaroid TV. The Polaroids I've repaired had bad caps in the power supply, and most of the caps weren't visibly bad. I had to use an ESR meter to detect the bad ones. I found this repair kit online, where the description mentions one of the symptoms as being "Power LED on, but no picture": http://www.amazon.com/Repair-ELEMENT.../dp/B006JVL670

I'd crack it open to see if any of the caps do show signs of failure before buying a kit.

Ok been havin a hard time getin clear pic so I also am writing in information for item 1 & 2.

What is the part number on the power supply? A good pic of the power supply would be helpful.

Do you see the two 10uF 450Vdc caps to the right of the high voltage transformers as shown in picture #2? Do they have domed tops?

I did try heating the two 10uf 450Vdc caps with a hair dryer but still no picture.

Please do a real quick check on D10. That diode is another usual suspect for this TV. It's the one towards the middle of the board attached to a heat sink.

Image 4: the two 10uf 450Vdc caps have domed tops" you need to replace them, it is too far gone to use hair dryer trick, it is very common failure.

Ok I'll check on D10 but I don't have a fluke. I have a DM 50 DIG TAL MULTITESTER see image 5.

Thank budm I just got done watching a video on youtube replacing the two 10uf 450Vdc caps. I'll do some more reading.

Just as Bud said, In which I always agree with Bud, replace the caps already. Its a no brainer. No need to meter anything else right now... especially if you are new to this. Replace the caps and try it. I just repaired a Polaroid like this in about 20 minutes just by replacing the caps.
