Sony KD-60X690E 6 Blinks, no image

I just got this today and it has the infamous 6 blink code. I've read it's quite possibly bad backlights, and I intend to check them soon. However, I was just curious if the Sony logo should it's shouldn't be appearing briefly between powering on and the light starts flashing. I've read at least one other person had the logo flash quickly, but mine does not show anything at all, not even a flicker. The green light comes on and after about 5 seconds the red light flashes. So I'd expect in this 5 seconds to see the logo. This leads me to believe it could be a power supply issue.

I will be testing the LEDs probably tomorrow night nonetheless.

It's most likely back lights as you mentioned since that's Sonys code for backlight failure.
You can ground the wire named backlight err to the chassis and that should bypass the shutdown so you can verify the tv works and confirm it's the backlights.

Thanks for the informative reply! I will try this! I'm guessing that wire will be on the connector to the main board?

not a good idea to shorting the BL-.error to chassis.... as it will go high if there are issue at BL... just measure it if it goes high and be sure what kind of BL you have edge or direct

of course it will toast it..LOL
the correct way the wire which it go from the PSU socket to MB of BL _err slide it out from the socket at PSU and connect to GND,, so it should

Plugged my tester in to the LEDs and the backlights light up, but they're blue.. So definitely bad backlights.

Blue definitely means bad backlights but that doesn't mean it's your code. I have this exact TV and it has blue lights and doesn't throw any code.

It still probably is the backlights but just saying blue won't throw the code probably. I know many Sony's that are blue no code

Several Reddit users were having the 6 blink code and it went away after replacing the backlights. Some even swapped out the power and main boards prior.

What's odd though is that I couldn't see the Sony logo or anything else with with a flashlight when the LEDs were plugged into the power supply. What I did in the video is unplug it from the power supply and stick the tester probes into the plug and taped them in place, then I plugged the the tv in and turned it on. That's when I was able to get the logo.. But it keeps rebooting every few seconds. I don't think the red light was flashing though during all of this. I already tore it down last night, or else I would have repeated this setup to confirm whether or not it was flashing... Can't see the light on my video. I already ordered the backlights, should come early to mid next week.

They just need the quantum dot filters to make them white again. lol

Isn't that what I said? The chassis is ground
