    Samsung HPT5054

I was just given a Samsung HPT5054 with the typical no picture problem.I'm 90% sure that at least most of the problem is on the main scan drive board. I've checked most of the MOSFETS on the board and several of them show a dead short. I'm waiting on a larger tip for my desoldering gun to arrive so I can get busy.
Has anyone ever replaced the MOSFETS on any of the boards in this TV. It looks like you almost have to unsolder every FET on some of the heatsinks just to replace one.
One final question, does anyone have a list of all the FET and big transistor part numbers?

Since removing that heatsink without the proper tools is a gigantic pain in the ass I've resorted to this: take the screws out of the fets holding them to the heatsink and remove them by lifting them straight up. You may have to trim the leads on bottom of board for extra clearance. Some are harder to get at than others but if your short is removed then you've found the culprit.

I'm guessing you didn't use the Search for this model as there is alot of info already. Pro Tip: check the scan ic's on the upper and lower buffer boards for pinholes or obvious signs of destruction or better yet use a meter to detect shorts.

Ok, thanks. And by the way, I did do a search on the MOSFET removal proceedures and got not hits. So either I fat fingered or there is no post on the subject.

If you add solder to the points where the heatsink is installed, you can then easily desolder those points and pull the heatsink once the screws are removed.
