Re: Pilot 37" LCD : PIL37AV Stuck on standby

i tried the resistance testing but i have caps in paralllel to the outputs,
so when i am testing i can see them charge, and the output on the multimeter changes...

if you see them charging sounds like the rails arnt shorted, does meter go out of range when they get to a point?

      did you re-solder cold joint?(resistor)

test all your diodes, and the ones on heatsinks too?

your controller IC 8 legged chip you put up,measure resistance from pin 7 to 8,reading?

Re: Pilot 37" LCD : PIL37AV Stuck on standby

i tested on the 2k scale, some has went over it, some didn't.

i tried resolder everything i took out, but i have no way to verify as i solder caps the closest to the pcb, so i cant look under the caps...

about the diodes with heatsink i will have to wick the legs because some are connected in parallel to tansformers/resistors.... -> i will do it tommorow and update, it 1am here at israel...

to test the ic should i remove it out, or i can test it in circuit?

your diodes you can test in circuit,if you find one with an odd reading take it out and retest

i can hear it's trying to start but i can hear some clicks as i have a short on something...

i checked all of the small diodes, all seemed ok.

the next thing is to check the transistors which is a pian,

i hate to wick them out....

                any more ideas?
So you ground the on/off pin instead of using force on resistor (100~1K Ohms) between 5VSTBY and the ON/OFF pin?
I do not know if the ON/OFF pin signal is active high or active low.

Re: Pilot 37" LCD : PIL37AV Stuck on standby

The datasheet for the PWM controller IC is here

After checking the resistance pins 7-8 with power off, when it is powered on check the voltage on pins 7 -vcc and 8 gnd Very very carefully as HIGH voltaqe area although
test should show less than 20 vdc
                  "VCC (Power supply)

This pin is the positiv supply of the IC. The operating

range is between 8.5V and 21V.

To provide overvoltage protection the driver gets

disabled when the voltage becomes higher than 16.5V

                  during Start Up Phase."
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

So sorry for the delay in update...

(i waited for my new meter to arrive Fluke 17B+) my old one had been giving me trouble..

so for the resistance test on the 2A180Z ic: between pin 7 and 8 i got 30k ohm
for the voltage test : between pin 7 and 8 i got 13.23vdc

is there anything else i should test?

Replace the start up caps , I repaired on of these with the same issue the caps next to the transformer were the issue.

i already replaced all of the elc' caps, do you mean them?
                        or the blue ones?

I mean all the smaller caps and all the caps next to the transformer.

I used budm tip on force starting the psu,

(with logic board disconnected: jumpered a 265ohm resistor from 5v pin to on/off pin)

now i have power but not the correct voltages..

                            CN6:
PIN 1,3 should be 18v but only got 12.22vdc

                            CN5:
PIN 2 should be 12v but only got 5.18vdc

                            CN4:
                            PIN3 GOT 5.14 sould be 5v OK
PIN 6,7 (not connected) shoud be 12 got 5.18vdc

didn't check the voltages that goes to the invertor...

                            any more tips?

Have you checked that the pfc is running ?
