    Samsung UH55H6400AKXXU Display Problem

    Hi all,
I hope someone may be able to assist me with this little problem with this set.
When watching scenes with lots of white and light in the scene it would appear that the highlights are showing as yellow instead of white. For instance someone with white/blonde hair has yellow patches in it where the light shines on it, I hope you can see it on these examples. Please excuse the subject matter as I just took these at random
I have uploaded 2 with the yellow and 2 without for comparison, any advice really appreciated as the TV is perfect apart from this annoying problem.
    Thanks in advance.

What is Colour Temperature/Tone set to? Try turning down Brightness or Contrast setting.

      Hi tom66,

Thanks for the quick response, I've tried going through all the various settings, even resetting to factory settings and starting from scratch. It's annoying as it only seems to be on highlights, and only appears to affect the whites, darker scenes appear to be fine.

      Pete.

Does changing the picture mode help?

          Hi,
Just taken a series of the same still on the different modes, the only badly affected area is the guys shirt and changing modes does seem to affect it, as can be seen in the photos.
However on brighter scenes, which I can upload if necessary, the problem is much more exaggerated and changing modes doesn't have a significant effect.

          Thanks for looking.

It looks like the Gamma Voltages are mildly wrong, the cause of the problem I do not know.

              Hi,

I decided to take the cover off the TV and have a check for anything obvious that was visible, I removed all cables and reseated them unfortunately made no difference to the picture.
Any suggestions to anything else I could be checking to try and eliminate certain factors. I have seen lots of T-Con board photos posted in relation to display problems, so I have included this for reference.

              Thanks.

                      Hi,

Just ran the two tests and everything appears to be fine as far as I can see.
                      Results are posted below.
I also ran the self diagnosis and it fails on test one, but fine on test two (see images).
I have a feeling that this is going to be an expensive repair

                      Thanks.

What are Test 1 and Test 2 testing exactly ? If that beach pic looks good (I can't tell, it still looks solarized to me?) Then I would suspect Main board.

Have you tried different sources on different inputs to be sure it is the TV and not the signal or narrow it to certain inputs?

Have you downloaded the latest software for this TV?

If it were me, I would send the TV back and not buy a Samsung LED due to reliability issues. This issue just seems like poor QC - possibly bad calibration settings.

You said it Tom, thats what I would do, if its still under guarantee, box it up take it back and stay away from samsung.

If you look at the images in post #8 the test shows what board would be suspect, you are correct in assuming pic 1 is still showing yellow where the sun hits the water, yet test two is fine. So going off Kilroys post it would indicate a main board problem.

I have tried Component connection with an XBox360. The Home screen shows yellow across the bottom of the screen (Pic 1), yet during the intro video there is no visible yellow in the same portion of the screen just plain white (Pic 2).

Laptop connected via the DVI Input shows the Windows Logo with excessive yellow on the right hand side of the logo (Pic 3), the rest looks fine. I then opened Notepad to show a white screen, again no yellow showing (Pic 4)
However when I view photos that are on the laptop the problem shows up again, with yellow showing where the sun hits the sections of the photo.

The software is all up to date, I went through that a couple of times to be sure it was, although I haven't tried it via USB yet.

Unfortunately even though according to the service menu this TV was purchased on 31/12/2014 I can't return it. I got it from a local auction that sells retail stock/returns etc and like a fool I am guilty of bidding online without viewing first, but it was described as having a good picture
So even though it is well in warranty Samsung wouldn't even touch it as I have no Proof of Purchase and don't know where it was originally purchased, although I do know some of the retailers that these goods come from.
All the interior boards have 2014 dates on them and the panel is dated August 2014.

Besides putting a brick through it has anyone got any other ideas

Thanks for all the replies so far.

thats intresting, with your model being that new, I would call samsung and see if they might send someone out to fix it, tell them it was a gift and they didnt include the receipt, worth a shot, that tv is only a month old, it should work perfectly, another samsung failure, if they say no, tell m your calling rip off report the BBB and anyone else you can think of, this is just ridiculous, its one month old.

                                    Hi,
As expected, Samsung want Proof of Purchase so that is a dead end option.
So I have managed to take some readings from the T-Con board for some advice, despite the missus tutting and shaking her head

I have located an exact replacement, all numbers match, I have checked and double checked. Is it worth throwing £20 at it to rule the T-Con out ?
Here's the readings I took and the points are shown it the pic attached.

                                    VGA1 - 13.66 VGB1 - 13.40
                                    VGA2 - 13.12 VGB2 - 11.53
                                    VGA3 - 11.19 VGB3 - 10.96
                                    VGA4 - 10.72 VGB4 - 10.06
                                    VGA5 - 10.27 VGB5 - 9.72
                                    VGA6 - 8.20 VGB6 - 9.00
                                    VGA7 - 8.08 VGB7 - 7.96
                                    VGA8 - 7.02 VGB8 - 7.04
                                    VGA9 - 6.89 VGB9 - 5.32
                                    VGA10 - 4.57 VGB10 - 4.67
                                    VGA11 - 4.02 VGB11 - 4.33
                                    VGA12 - 3.46 VGB12 - 3.23
                                    VGA13 - 13.49 VGB13 - 2.61
                                    VGA14 - 0.80 VGB14 - 0.56

VGA13 seems like the only strange reading having compared other peoples readings. Any thoughts, advice greatly received.

                                    Pete.

Hm, that could cause your issue. Interesting. It would be the first of a newer generation of TVs to suffer from this fault. Are you certain you're probing the right point?
