vizio gv42l-hdtv 3642-0012-0150

Hi,i have vizio 42" hdtv,with no picture or sound,when you turn it on the light turns white then yellow and does nothing else.one day it just stopped working,no pop or anything.I opened it up,the main board is 3642-0012-0150,there is no visual damage anywhere,do not know how to test,its about 7 years old,any help would be apreciated,thanks

You can start by up loading good clear pictures of the whole back side of the TV so we can see all the boards and how they are connected together.
It may be just the fuse on the main board or bad regulators.

The large white connector (that goes to the power supply board) to the left of the small white connector on the top right of the main board, there are two white fuses just below the large white connector that you need to check the resistance and the DCV on both ends of the fuses using chassis for the meter black lead.
BTW, the pictures are not very well focused at all.

What are the P/N as printed on the barcode stickers on the power supply and the main board?

here are some more pictures i hope they are better,thanks for your help,,i tried to test the two small fuses on the main board,these are my readings,on one i got 1.459 and i believe i think you call it the resistence 1.302and on the other 2.86 and 2.63,thanks again.there is also the barcode of the main board.

I do not understand the resistance readings of the two fuses on the main board, why are there 4 readings, 1.459, 1.302, 2.86, 2.63? There should be only one resistance reading for each fuse and the reading should be about the same as when the test probes shorted together. You know how to use the DMM properly, right?
Are the readings in Ohms, K Ohms, or M Ohms?
How about the DCV readings on both ends of the fuses with reference to the chassis ground?

BTW, common fault in this model is due to bad LDO regulator ICs. I hope you are good at soldering and know how to do SMD repair.

I am sorry I dont understand much of this,still tying to learn,but I do have different readings on them fuses one says on my meter dc 5.22v and the other dc.97 v,power cuming into the power supply 123ac

the one that read dc5.22v,it says on it 3a and the one that reads .ac.97v it says 5a onits face ,hope that helps.

"but I do have different readings on them fuses one says on my meter dc 5.22v and the other dc.97 v" The two fuses on the main board, one is fed by 5V STANDBY power supply, the other one is fed by SWITCHED 12V which is switched on when the main board sends out the PS-ON signal to the power supply board to turn on the main power supply section, so I do not know how you get 97V on the second fuse.

OK. 0.97V, that means the main power supply is not turned on to supply the switched 12V.
You will have to look at the Voltage regulator ICs on the main board next.
Please read how to test them and how to report the reading in the FORMAT as shown in the thread, this very important that the format is done correctly.

If your not sure how to carry out any tests etc we ask you to do just ask we can advise you how to do them also a picture of your multi meter may help if your not sure what setting you need to have it on.

yes that is my main board,and meter is supposed to be a smart meter,there are no setting on it,just turn it on and it knows what to do

OK, read this post, and also download the PDF spec sheet so you can see what pin 1, 2, 3 are.

I do not know how to set your meter function to DC Volt mode for testing the DC Voltage so read you manual and then try measuring a 1.5V battery to see what shows up on the meter. When you make the Voltage measurement you will put black probe on the chassis and the red probe for probing each pin of the IC.
Just make sure to report the reading in the format as shown in the link, that is very important so it will not cause confusion and wasted time.
