Samsung Plasma TV (PN43D450A2DXZA) -- Powers On but No Picture, 5 Blinks, Sound Works

I recently purchased a used Samsung Plasma 42” TV (PN43D450A2DXZA) from a friend and, in attempting to transport it in my car, seem to have broken it. the only physical damage is a small crack in the screen, but, when turned on, no picture appears. While I know very little about repairing electronics, I would really love to learn a thing or two and (just maybe) fix my TV in the process so I greatly appreciate your interest and patience in helping me with this project! Here's what I have so far:

When the TV is plugged in and turned on, the red power light blinks 5 times and then goes off. No picture is displayed, but all of the normal sounds play. Also, if I plug my computer into the HDMI port and output music, I can use the TV's speakers to play sound from my computer by pressing the source button a few times.

More Diagnostics: I took the back off the TV and tested the Va, Vsc, and Vs (I couldn't find the Ve testing point). All three were normal (Va = 58V, Vsc = -185V, Vs = 207V), but Vs starts at 207V when the TV is plugged in and then quickly drops back to 0V in about 15 seconds. I've been using Tom's fast track guide (i.e., Samsung_PN43D450A2DXZA_fast_track_guide_[SM].pdf) thus far, but am not sure how to do the part titled "activating power and logic board test patterns without main board" (it's a bit beyond my electronics skills).

What should I do next? Do you think my TV is salvageable?

Cracked screen = dead, no way to fix it and it's done. It's now good for parts.

Noooo. Alright well at least I didn't spend more money trying to fix it. Thanks!

Was just wondering if you still have the TV and what the numbers where of the y buffer if you are going to salvage it.

I wouldn't be surprised of the buffers are now shorted as the set was turned on repeatedly with a cracked screen

I have similar issues as his. Bought TV in '11, replaced x-main in '14. Now video and audio are out, When powering up the it does play Samsung chime. I do have a very small crack in screen, it didn't break through the screen. I guess that had happened @ 3- 4 months ago. after screen cracked tv was fine for all those months , could crack be fatal for me as well? TV also shuts itself off after about 14 minutes. Haven't checked any voltages yet, would appreciate any/all input.

Not an expert on this, but plasma screens consists two glass substrates that are sandwiched together and sealed, the air is vacuumed out and a mixture of noble gases is injected between the glass substrates. When you crack a screen the gas leaks and the screen is dead. Maybe the gas leaked little by little since the crack incident and now its dead

Thanks for your reply, I'm still curious as to why all my test point voltages are off or 0. Also green light on t-con board flashes every 5 seconds, constituting another problem possibly with y-main or other. Any knowledge with those symptoms?

One Samsung I worked on was about 4/5 years old and had a full glass cover over screen proper and acting as a surround. It was difficult to detect cracking of the plasma screen itself. Get the voltages going and see what happens as you will learn a good bit anyway. The control board should flash regularly about once a second.
