RCA Model # LED52B45RQ not turning on

I have an rca LED LCD TV that won't turn on. When you plug it in, the red light comes on. When you hit the power button on the remote or on the side of the TV, the light goes out and nothing happens. I read about another similar problem on here but it was slightly different in the voltage readings. On the main capacitor I have 167 dc with it off (red light on) and 396 with it turned on. Voltages on con2 are all showing what they should be according to the markings next to it when its on. There's no bad caps showing. Tried unplugging the con5&6 connectors one at a time to see if there is a short in the LEDs but nothing happens. Could it be a bad power supply? Or do I have a bad main board? Don't know where else to look. Can someone help me out? What else to look for? I'll post pics of the boards below

Posting pictures of the back of your tv showing the boards with clear pictures may help you more with fixing your problem

Probably corrupt firmware. Type in your model the frimware into google.

I tried typing it into Google and the only thing that comes up is for a color management download. And the TV needs to be on to upload it from a USB stick.

I also checked the 2 harnesses going into the LEDs themselves and they are showing 76.3 volts on the 3 positive pins on each. I'm thinking I should pull the back off to get to the LEDs themselves?

I checked the voltage s and everything is within specs. It seems as though the main board isn't turning on. They sell a new replacement eeprom for the board for $15 but it says that if I don't have a blue light when I hit the power button then the eeprom might not be the problem, but something else on the board. Opinions? Or other tests/bypasses to verify it's the main board?

OK.I bought a new eeprom for the main board. Television turns on now but the screen is upside down. I made sure that the number one pin was at the arrow on the board. Anyone know how to fix this??

Hey guys,

I have the same tv RCA LED52B45RQ that is not turning on all the time. It might work today and next day nothing. Replaced the entire main board (purchased from shopjimmy) thinking maybe the EPPROM was defective and still have the same exact problem. I also resoldered all connections on power board.

Any suggestions? Did I get a defective main board or do you guys think there might be a problem with wire harness.

I'm having a similar issue with this model as well. I replaced the eeprom and the TV worked immediately afterwards but after I unplugged it over night, it wouldn't turn on. I resoldered the eeprom connections and it worked but the next day, same deal.

Makes me wonder if the eeprom needs to be heated up before the TV will work. I'll try that and get back to you all.

Try warming the area with hot air and any capacitors closeby. Is there an smd cap connected to the eeprom. I believe some lcd sets have problems with this decoupling capacitor and replacing the capacitor does the trick. It may be the same sort of problem with this set but just guessing at this time.

Could we see a pic of the T-CON Bd?...There're 2 things you can try...(1). Switch the TV to Factory/Service Mode and see if there is a way to invert/flip the screen or (2). Remove/replace the position of resistors on the T-CON Bd to 'hard' repair the issue.

I believe some lcd sets have problems with this decoupling capacitor and replacing the capacitor does the trick. It may be the same sort of problem with this set but just guessing at this time.

Tried that yesterday to no avail. Was going to try it again today but the TV turns on fine now. I know it's not going to last so now I'm going to wait until it screws up again.

Found this on ebay.
Problems that can cause EEPROM are:



Þ Tv does not turn on (the LED does not make the change to ON)

Þ Tv turns on but no light in the background (the TV turns on but there is no image in the background)

Þ Tv turns on and remains stuck the logo (not disappears the logo or brand of the tv)

Þ Tv does not ignited the power indicator LED (the source of power has the correct voltages)

Þ Tv turns off when scanning the channels or make any other function (remain frozen image and turns off the tv)

Þ Tv turns on but takes to give image or this slow to make the selected functions

Þ TV turns on and has been changing of colors the screen (this in color mode test pattern and is not removed)

Þ Tv power on and the picture is negative (the colors in the image are not correct)

Þ Tv turns on but the image is flipped
