I can confirm you only get 5v STB on P6 with just the mains plugged in. I repaired these sets ( 30 series ) many times.
5v goes into mainboard and mainboard turns on the 15v rail and the panel_on etc so yes you got a dead mainboard 100%.
These mainboards fail with bad BGA under the cpu. I think a reflow of the cpu will get some life back in the tv.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

I read a post of yours dated early last year on this subject. It was a bigger tv but same problem I think. Your answer then was main board replacement.
New board is enroute. Question: new board suffix is supposed to be AC. When I get it, if the resistor/s are located differently than mine, do I go ahead, install and try it or do I need to try and move/change arrangement to match my board?

Just thinking out loud.
No you wouldn't have to do any modifications. As tvtimmy says shopjimmy says they would work and they are NEVER wrong
Suffix is important but with Panasonic is good to know that you can swap most boards with different version tv's.
For example the 42VT30 mainboard will work in a ST30 or GT30. I once had a 50ST50 mainboard in a 50VT50 tv.
Mainboards are different but the panels are the same , it is software and design related. But this is also with devices like soundbars etc.

OK. So if an IC replacement was done they did replace it with a similar one. Wait for your new board, cross your fingers and put in the new board and fire her up. She will work, don't worry.
Good news, bad news. The board arrived today with the threaded cable end torn out of the tuner. The end was not in the box either. I installed the card to see if it fixed the tv...tv plays perfect! Whoopie!
Bought through eBay from TVPARTSTODAY for $54 and change. No shipping through eBay.
Question: do I go through the hassle of sending it back through eBay for a replacement and hope it works (if it doesn't they'll make it good, just like this time) or should I do a little soldering and put the tuner from my old board on the new one? Opinions please
glad you got the "basic tv" working... too bad about the board. IF you aren't using the coax section, I would forego doing anything on it and just ask for a refund of $15-20 perhaps. I guess it depends.... is shipping returns free? Having said, are planning to sell ultimately sell off the set... then you might want to get a fully functional board.... regardless of the time, you know that the set is operational at this point... so you are playing with "panasonic money"... :-)
Great news. We suspected the Main Bd. from inception. If the return is free I'd send it back and ask for another board. If the TV is for your personal use and you will not be using that input, check the other inputs especially the input you'd be using and see if it works You did pay for a whole working board so ask for a partial refund then Send pictures of the damage to the Supplier,as well.
I don't have cable, I cut the cord a year ago , I have an outside antenna and I need the coax jack to watch local programs. I've checked the composite jack on the new board with a DVD player and it works, don't know about any others.
So the basic question remains, exchange tuners off of boards myself or exchange the board for another and hope I get a good one. I doubt I'll get a discount if I keep the damaged one.
I guess what I'm really wanting to know is, should I go to all the trouble of changing the tuners myself or send it back? I definitely need one that works.
The tuners have the same part number , I'll attach pics of both.
Why didn't you say that in post #75? No one is more bummed out over this than me! I've done some more research on the company I'm dealing with, I'll be lucky if it all works out well. I may still take a 12 guage to this POS!
Calm down, my friend...We have reached thus far. If you returned the broken board to the Supplier requesting another, they will surely send another one that is 100% working as they would not want any negative feedback on the account, which would be bad for business.

I appreciate it Andrew. This company, tvpartstoday, already has some negative feedback. I went through eBay, it shipped free, and it looks like I'll get a refund, if I'm lucky. eBay mixup between refund and replacement, that's a whole different story. Of course I'll still have to get another board or get out the gun. I've tried calling the seller but when they sell through eBay, you have to go through eBay. I won't pay $150 for a board. Thanks for the support!
