    Repair or Replace

From today in the UK all electrical good must have spares available for 10 years in order that landfill use is reduced.
Since this also applies to TV's it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Probably means the manufacturer will keep ONE spare lightbox on hand at twice the price of the tv.

It would be nice if the manufacturers would again release a service manual for their electronics. I get so tired of tackling a PCB blind.

I remember when you walked past the Radio & TV shop the pavement would be strewn with schematic diagrams mixed in with the empty boxes waiting to be collected by the refuse collectors.

they can have all the spares you need / want BUT unless there is some "control" on pricing, it is likely that the end result will still be alot of "recycling".

It's not all electrical goods. Ovens, hobs, microwaves and tumble dryers are exempt as is personal tech such as phones and laptops.

BBC News does not rule out white goods in the 10 year plan.

They need to employ better journalists that understand what they are writing about. This article details what is covered and what is not. https://www.bigissue.com/latest/envi...d-your-family/
