Grew up on the Atari 400/2600/800, IBM XT, video arcade games and have been in IT ever since. Although I'm in management now, my engineering days was focused on telecommunications, networking, and security (Cisco, X.25, X.42, Frame Relay, MPLS, dial-up modem banks, SNA, firewalls, IPS/IDS, and a bunch more)

I've always been very interested in electronics but in the last three years have been able to finally focus on it as a hobby. I enjoy troubleshooting and repairing old arcade games (especially monitors), power supplies, 8-bit computers/gaming consoles. Also, do high-level (non-component level) laptop repairs and upgrades.

I firmly believe in the right to repair, as this helps areas of the economy and helps keep salavagable electronic out of landfills. Also, keeps my mind sharp and me young!

I'm just a guy from Virginia, USA looking for a nice electronics community.

I got interested in electronic repair around the time I was 13 or 14, and since then I've taken great pleasure in fixing whatever I can. Usually it's simple things like replacing parts without soldering, but I'm hoping to go further with this.

So I found this forum while looking for an answer as to why my new multimeter wasn't working, and I decided to stick around because this looks like a nice place to talk about electronics repair. It's certainly easier to find new posts here than on other forums!
