Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello
I signed up quite some time ago but on a hunt for things I came across this site yet again, logged in and now, I suspect that I might have already entered a note here but as I am unsure I thought I better follow the rule again.
A lot of what I do relates to archival and some of what I do relates to small simple repairs such as recapping old boards. I am by no means trained in electronics but I wish I was because it is such a fascinating field. Nonetheless, I have all the necessary tools for soldering / desoldering, adding flux and all that good stuff. It's a ton of fun, I just wish I knew more about electronics.
I have quite a number of old Macintosh computers and they are of that vintage that they surely require recapping. This would include caps being replaced for not just Logic Boards but also power supplies and old CRT monitors.
I have an old Powerbook 2400c, actually two of them but one is simply not turning on, only a small click of the speaker as the power supply is connected. I know it's not the power supply because it works on the second powerbook 2400c. The machine has been sitting in a box dismantled for about 2 years and this summer I plan to try to get going again.
Anyway, I am glad I rediscovered this forum and I will have a book mark more visible for future access. I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity and hope that I can be of some help here and there but I am afraid my knowledge will make me more of a seeker of knowledge and answers than otherwise.
Kind regards
—Alex
