Hi everyone, got my first computer when I was 18! A TRS-80 Model 1 back in 198early(ish) if memory serves - I was apprentice electrician. I hooked up an old Sperry terminal via RS-232 that served as a pretty good printer for many years. My first moden was acoustic.

I have been a PC tech since the original IBM PC was released, and have fixed daisy wheel, laser, shuttle (thanks DataProducts) and dot matrix printers - how far we have come.

I miss the days when you could easily repair a motherboard and desolering an IC didn't require specialist gear.

Came here looking for clues on how to fix an 32" LCD noname TV - we'll see how I go

Hello! I'm new to laptop repair but not new to tinkering with computers. I went to school for computer science and worked at the university's IT shop for several years.

I've fiddled around with some electronics work (build my very own lightsaber!) and would consider myself okay at soldering, but certainly not good.

My main reason for coming here is I'm sick and tired of a world where we have planned obsolescence by companies trying to generate more profit at the expensive of...well, everything and everyone else. I find it crazy that we take things that are mostly good, but maybe have one bad, <$10 component and toss them into the landfill (or worse) and just move on and buy the next product for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Hi everyone! I'm rixis19. I've been interested in learning how to repair electronics on a board level for quite some time now, but I have little to no experience actually doing so. I'm looking to change that, at the very least for personal hobby more so than anything commercial.

I'm a gamer, wannabe game developer, and software developer. I'm currently in college for Computer Science, but I'd like to have a slightly larger skillset than what my career is primarily.
