    Hello everyone!

I'm Mark from the Netherlands, 40 years old and have been messing around with computers and laptops for around 10 years now, repairing and upgrading them. I've seen the badcaps forum several times, but never got round to subscribing (until now that is).

I've studied electronics in school, and that's also where my interest (still) is. I love fixing things, and hate throwing things away (things that are fixable that is).

    Thanks for accepting my subscription!

So I'll start things off :

My name is petabyte and I'm a forum junkie. I've been off the wagon for a number of years and countless times I've tried to stop but it's useless.. I need to feed my learning addiction.. :!:

Now just a bit about me.. I'm a fairly secretive guy in terms of privacy on the net.. especially when the things you write are visable to anyone with a net connection. But I love to share the info and knowledge I have, so that's why I'm here, to share and learn.

my formal education is that of an electronic engineer and I held a field service position with a firm for over 20 years.. that job is gone now along with company car and laptop <cry> oh well..
So needless to say (but i will) I've always tinkered with things.. yes, a hacker.. (too bad that term lost it's orignal meaning) a hardware hacker mostly.. hacking fixes in whatever I find that breaks.. (except for cars, I have friends for that) I got started a little late into the computers, my first box was an ibm pc-xt with a whopping 10meg HD,blazing fast 4.66mhz 8086 processor, 640k mem running dos 3.3.. man was I cool back then.. nevermind..

so these days, I'm forced to be a software guy as well.. as I fix pc's for friends and that usually means cleaning virus/trojan/adware and reinstalling OS's.. yeah hardware breaks but not that often  so as a result, I keep up on my software knowledge by visting a few security forums.. and trolling around a few hardware forums as well.

now I found this place from a thread at motherboards.org/forums
where I've been hanging out lately.. it's a nice friendly place with some pretty smart people.. mostly, of course, it's about mobo's.. So this person mentioned badcaps.net and I recalled reading articles a year or so ago about the faulty caps and was curious as to what you guys were up to.. and I said "w00t.. they have a forum"..

and so now.. you're stuck with me :P

so what's your story ? come on.. give it up..
Всем привет, я из маленького провинциального города в России, люблю заниматься компьютерами и мне нужно скачать boardview ms-7c56ver1.0

                            Hi guys and gals,

My name Is Benoit M., born on April in 1985.

I'm just a french mechanical (HSM specialist) engineer.

I began PCMR with 486dx2 33Mhz at home, coding a few programs in BASIC and learning DOS commands to launch Windows 3.1 and my favorite games at this time (Doom, Aladdin, King Lion...)

I'm actually developing a PROXMOX server for virtual machines that uses a Quadro M4000 that i just pinched in an hazardous move.

One of the caps has flown away... Impossible to find that little boy.

That's why i'm here, maybe someone has the glorious boardview of this quite rare GPU most often used in workstations.

                            Actualy i run a 3950x with 64Gb of RAM and a 3090ti.

Nice to meet you all ! ;-)

greetings all, i thought this might be a good place to ask about hardware-oriented troubleshooting steps to perform on a failed laptop i have. i've been reading posts here for several weeks and have learned some solid troubleshooting techniques already, such as leveraging brd files and schematic files for a more structured troubleshooting process. one poster gave two screenshots of configuration settings that cleaned up a lot of unnecessary symbols and made the allegro free viewer actually useful. that alone saved several hours of research in terms of which config bits to set.

                                    Hello All
I am 50, started in Electronics in 70's with crystal radio and AM transmitters. Used to fix radios with finger touch and spit LOL. Used to repair VCR's/ TV's in 80's (without luxurious Digital meters LOL). Completed Electronics and communication Engineering degree. Did lot of work in both Analog and Digital Electronics. Competent in Assembly language, C, C++ etc. Pretty good with both hardware and software development.
                                    Thanks

Don't really wanna post this but says I've gotta type something, guess I love to learn new things and I'm always stuck on something, thus why I often spend the free time seeking for a push in the right direction 😅

Suppose the approach is often flawed but generally get there in the end.

I am in this repair industry for the past 8 years. While looking for schematics, Google helped me to join this group.
Thanks. Looking forward to give and take help from you all.
