I really enjoy repairing broken devices and giving them a new lease of life. Sometimes so much joy that I deliberately buy broken devices. Currently I am joining this forum because I had put myself a power on password on my daily driver, but don't really restart much and have forgotten the password.

I am trying to give broken electronics a second life. I live in Northern California and go to few ewaste/ shredding companies. There are tonnes of laptops/ phones/ various electronic items being shredded or tossed like trash which makes me sad.. I was thinking of saving most of them which seems impossible. I list them on eBay but most are old (not even a year old) and slow for the tech addicted world May be I can ship them to developing countries? Any tips or help appreciated.

Im an Architect and building designer by profession, and have experience of over 14 years now, however i have multiple hobbies, such as Gardening, electronic repairing, automation, IT and research on new technologies.
I spent most of my time learning about electronic stuff, practice soldering and fixing stuff, specifically computers and laptops. so far i repaired 4 dead motherboards and 3 laptops on my own by researching online and watching youtube videos,
i also document my hobbies and experiment by making youtube videos, i have a channel namely Nature fuzz,
i found badcaps forum while i was searching motherboard schematics to diagnose and repair my b450 motherboard, it has been good experience here at badcaps, i often read discussions on this forum which enlighten me alot.
i thank all the contributors of this forum who make DIY repair easier and helping to reduce electronic waste.

Hello Folks. It's nice to be here. I am a retired restoration expert for things of wood - for both structural and cosmetic issues. I love my wife, music of several kinds, dogs,
(we have a dachshund that is crazy fun) movies, learning, woodworking, and computers - esp. Thinkpads. I think it's my goal in life to repair and reuse Everything around me. If I can fix the broken and make it whole again, or repurpose it - I am a happy man. That includes LAPTOPS. I'm no electronic genius but it makes me feel so good! And I want to learn more, more, more! My latest challenge is removing Supervisor passwords from retired corporate Thinkpads and Workstations - just getting started on that - and I own every one of em. I don't do this for other people, just for my own collection. But I do help friends & family if they need it.

40yo electrical engineer, have been tinkering with audio, embedded, computer and RF electronics since earliest I can remember. Lately I started recieving bad computer parts from friends and set my goal on repairing them. Mainly GPU, PSU and motherboards. What can I say, I hate seeing prime and top of the line hardware binned because there's no repair shop around.
