Hi everyone!
I started my own little computer repair and resale business a couple years ago. My primary source of income is not computer related but I've always tinkered with computers and enjoy using, fixing and building them. So far I have had success with my computer related business. I am now looking to get into some basic motherboard level repairs. Unfortunately, I'm not yet at a level where I can request schematics from manufacturers and be an "authorized repair shop". So for now I am seeking advice, knowledge and to share whatever info I have to help others.

My name is Mauro Meira, I'm starting out in the world of electronics. I discovered this forum by chance on the internet while looking for a boardreview file. I have a degree in another area, I have a bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctorate and a postdoc in biology and genetics, but I have always been interested in the area of electronics and information technology. I'm starting to maintain a friend's notebook that hasn't been working for years.....it will be a big challenge for me, but I'll try.

Hi everyone,
I loved electronic since a was a kid (50 years ago). I'm now an electronic engineer and I builded and repaired electronic devices for several decades of years.
Nowadays, components are getting berely visible and beloved DIP is almost no more used so I decided to update my soldering skills on SMD components too.
Now I'm challenging myself by trying to repair my son's laptop so I landed here searching for help.
Thanks for your support.

Hello there. I go by Tigeris or pretty much anything I suppose.
A bit about me, I have been messing around with anything electronic for as long as I can remember. Back in my single digit years old. I have always just seemed to have clicked with it. I sadly do not have any formal training in anything, but I do know quite a lot when it comes to electronics, computers, and some engineering. I'm not sure super what else to put. I sometimes have trouble putting things together like this. But, I am always up for answering questions.
But thank you so much for allowing me into your community.

Hello all, I'm a tinkerer at heart and love anything tech! I'm currently in the sunny state of FL and love it here.
Recently found the forum and am really digging all the info and top notch support and friendly help. I have a HP elitebook 830 G7 with windbond W25Q128JV BIOS chip that has a password lock on it. I'm currently in the process of trying to unlock the file myself using a CH341 programmer (Black). I might have fumbled though and corrupted the EC chip as I order a set of chips from ebay before having the programmer. Still reading and learning but not a noob with soldering. Thank you all in advance for any warm welcomesLast edited by Stephen Middleton; 10-12-2024, 03:24 PM.

I started my working life as a Broadcast Technician in New Zealand, took Introduction to Microcomputers as an interesting night class and have spent many years fixing consumer electronics, printers and laptops/PCs for a living. Dabbled in programming. Now semi-retired from Analog Devices RF ASIC Lab, working part time as a hardware developer for a previous employer and building a cottage near Beaufort NC, USA.
