    Hi,

I am a 62yr old (male) UK resident and am looking forward to an active retirement (although it may be a few years before I can afford it). I have an unfulfilled interest in electronics and have always wanted to be able to “fix things”. I am starting to investigate electronic repair as a hobby and I am making use of the internet and something called books🤪 which, for those younger members, are the analog version of google, you tube etc. I hope to learn and converse with the membership and then learn some more. I have a very basic understanding of electrical theory and will be learning mostly through watching you tube, reading and then trying things out in the real world. Hopefully I will not suffer from a premature home made defibrillator event and will try not to fry myself too badly, or burn the house down.
cheers and thanks for letting me join the membership

HI GUYS, I'M INSANE. I LIKE ELECTRONICS AND I HAVE SOME 30+ YEARS OF HOBBYIST EXPERIENCE WITH ELECTRONICS. I STARTED WITH USING TONE DIALLERS IN THE 80s AND THEN WENT ON TO DECODING CAR RADIOS AND THEN HACKING SKY AND CABLE TV UNTIL I FOCUSED MY ATTENTION TO COMPUTERS AND LAPTOPS. I LOVE SOLDERING AND DO HAVE VARIOUS SOLDERING EQUIPMENT INCLUDING A HOT AIR STATION THAT I BOUGHT IN 2003 AND I STILL HAVE IT. MY PREFERENCE IS GAS POWERED IRONS BUT I DO USE 60W IRONS ANS 100 GUNS FOR CLEAN UP WORK.

                Hello everyone,

My name is Shane.I have been pulling apart electronics since I was a kid. Now I am enrolled in school working on my electrical engineering degree. I worked for 10 years in the Army as a helicopter repair tech, eventually moving on to quality control where I ensured that repairs were completed properly, conducted weight and balance to determine flight center of balance and maintained all the records for the aircraft. I also worked for several years as a laptop repair tech where I worked on most models then moved one to be a dedicated apple tech. I have a COMPTIA A+ cert and still repair devices for friends and family and the occasional paid work. I am experienced in board repair including SMD and I have all the equipment required to do. I ran across this sit while working on my personal laptop while looking for the schematic for it. I always look forward to learning and I hope this will be a great new found resource to continue on that path. Hope everyone out there is doing well and have a good day.

Hello, I bought a Dell (was working for 4 months) and found this forum while looking for Lattitude 5410 schematics to identify the parts that might cause LCD rail failure and how to find them on the motherboard.
