Just a noob walking in, but I'll point out what I know:
Been opening and closing things up since the 80's, but was really worried about messing with circuitry. Know how to soldering from my dad teaching me since 6 years old, but couldn't understand the lingo back then, and now today in my 40's totally understand the ohms, volts, and little bits that crank up any electronic. Still just a noob, lol 😂..

I'm Tom and I live in Massachusetts, US.

Looking forward to reading the many interesting threads and asking questions.
I am a hobbyist -- electrical engineering is unrelated to my training and work. I enjoy doing basic projects with analog (op amps) and digital (mainly MCUs, PIC, Arduino, ESP32 -- and the odd logic circuit). I have a basic setup at home with an electronics bench and a small machine shop.

      Looking forward to learning stuff.

      Thanks for this forum.

        Hello,
I am a hobbyist that is working on his degree in computer and electronic engineering. I am just about to get into circuits and hope to learn a lot. Thanks to the owner of this forum for keeping it up. I would be lost if i had to do the same thing. I hope to learn a lot and maybe share some of what i learn.

          Hello Everyone!

My name is Davi Lopes, and I'm thrilled to join this community! 🚀

A bit about me: I'm a software developer by profession, but I've always been fascinated by the inner workings of electronics and hardware. You could say I have a dual passion—coding and tinkering with hardware. Over time, I've become the go-to person in my circle for both fixing software bugs and diagnosing stubborn hardware issues. Whether it's reviving old laptops or experimenting with custom setups, I enjoy the challenge of making things work.

My formal background includes programming and electronics, and I've been delving deeper into notebook repair recently. It's incredible how much can be learned by opening up a device and tracing the problem—though I'll admit, I've had my share of trial-and-error moments. 😅

In terms of software, I'm always striving to stay current with the latest technologies, particularly in web development and automation tools. That said, I feel there's something uniquely satisfying about repairing and reusing hardware—it's a blend of puzzle-solving and sustainability.

I stumbled upon this forum while looking for resources on schematics and troubleshooting techniques, and I immediately felt like I'd found the right place. The wealth of knowledge here is inspiring, and I'm eager to both learn from and contribute to this community.

Looking forward to exchanging ideas, sharing insights, and learning from all of you!

          Cheers,
          Davi 👋

Hi newbie here - just trying to figure some stuff out.
Have a computer to repair - would be nice if I could figure that out!
Have 10+ year xp doing component level repair - legacy components - surface mount stuff was never worth doing at work, too much time +money to make it worthwhile for the boss.
            Cheers!

              Hi Guys,
I'm a hobbyist, weekend warrior not sure how to define myself but I like to fix stuff that's for sure. I usually buy broken stuff from local 2nd hand shop or FB market place and restore it for myself. Recently I like to step in to more advance electronic stuff so I start with Mac device which I believe there're online resources for a newbie like me also I want a MacBook but it too expensive to buy a new one here so I'm in a mission of fixing 2016 touchbar model.

BTW, I'm from Bangkok Thailand. Nice to e-meet you all!

I am a retired electronic technician, but I still repair computers and electronics. I have been working professionally with electronics since 1974. I started working at a TV repair shop, but I have worked at a major electronics manufacturer and as a communication technician at a 911 call center.
I used MS Windows in my career, but I prefer to use Linux at home, which is now in Arizona. I have lived in New York, Texas, and Washington state.

                                    Hello everyone,

My name is John, and I'm from France. I stumbled across this forum because I recently ran into a frustrating issue with my laptop – the BIOS was locked. At first, I thought it would be a quick fix, but as I started digging into it, I realized how little I knew about BIOS, chips, and the fascinating systems behind them. That curiosity quickly turned into a passion to learn more and figure out how everything works at a deeper level.

I wouldn't call myself an expert by any stretch, but I enjoy taking on challenges and learning as I go. This locked BIOS situation has been an eye-opener for me, and I've found myself diving into all kinds of resources to understand not just how to solve my own problem, but also the broader concepts of how these systems function.

I'm really looking forward to being part of this community, learning from all of you, and hopefully sharing what I pick up along the way. Thanks for having me, and I can't wait to see what this journey brings!

                                    Cheers,
                                    John

This website is truly the best I have come across. Everything I search for, I can easily find here. It stands out from other websites and forums because of its simplicity and effectiveness. I'm not entirely sure, but I really hope the website owner considers creating an app that we can download. Having access to this platform on our phones would make it even more convenient and enjoyable to use.i want learn more let me pls know
