Hi guys! I'm 42, my first PC was a intel 386sx40, year 1997. Then i moved to 486 dx-2/80 - and that PC is still alive, in my room! True legend! It helped me a lot, and i'm thankful to my parents and this PC.
I do support iT in my company. Also fixing anything which requires tools.
My hobby is repairing devices at home.

                    Hi,

Joined to learn about component repair as a hobby for laptops and amps.

I also have a question - I have replaced the PSU on my own iMac Pro. However, when removing the motherboard I knocked of a 120 OHM 30% 0.3A small surface mount common mode inductor/filter (~0602 size) in the ethernet circuit near the female RJ45 port.

The closest match I can find on Mouser is 120 OHM common mode inductor at 100MHz - my question is this frequency correct for a motherboard? The schematic for the motherboard only provides '120 OHM 30% 0.3A' and the TDK part number does not return anything in google.

Sorry, I am not experienced hence a basic question.

Would welcome any input, thanks in advance!

Hello to everybody, I have just joined as member busterdog1307, I am not qualified in electronics but, I enjoy working with electronic items. As I am now retired I can spend as much time pursuing my hobby.1 have qualifications in mechanical and electrical engineer and would describe myself as a jack of all trades and a master on none. I have worked in numerous industries over the years but my heart has always been in tinkering with electronics. Would like to be of some help to the site but I suspect I will asking questions a lot more than answering them!!! Wishing all members a prosperous and happy New Year 2025.

Hi Folks - Alan Boyd from Bangor in Northern Ireland here. I'm a long time PC builder and fiddler / repairer of PCs, laptops, phones and tablets. I'm belatedly being forced to get into BIOS fixes as friends and family have brought me even more badly broken computers to try and repair - And I hope the expertise of fellow forum users might help me save just a few more laptops and bits from the scrapheap. Cheers

                              Hey everyone,

I'm Torim and while I do not work actively in the repair industry, I do help people choose pc parts, build PCs, troubleshoot components, same with laptops and other devices. Since fiddling with an arduino a long time ago and making some of my own projects, I've gone into board level repair at least in the places I think I have a chance. So far I've not f'ed up, so I hope to continue that streak.
Huge advocate for repairability of devices. Hopefully me signing up will be able to restore life to some old devices.
                              Cheers.
