Just joined up so perhaps a bit late to the party but better late than never, right?
Been around the Internet from its very early days and have been creeping around various forums for decades.
Most of those sites are gone though. Glad to see this one is still around and kicking!

                                      Cheers,

Hi everyone - first time exploring flashing of BIOS chips. I have a dead ASUS laptop that is only a year old that bricked itself during a BIOS update. I understand MOST of the process. I was able to successfully flash a Winbond chip using the CH341A. But I apparently dont understand the process to get a proper bin file. The one I downloaded from the asus website was slightly too big so I truncated the blank bits at the end to make it exactly 32MB. I wrote that to the chip, reinstalled it, and laptop still doesnt boot. I don't think I'm using a good bin file. I posted in a thread with about the same model as mine hoping the expert on there that helped someone else previously can help me. I also know there is the whole issue of DMI information thats has bytes you have to set for your laptop which includes serial number, MAC address, and a windows GUID. I'm hoping that whoever can send me a bin file, I can just write those bits to the chip, install it, boot it, and then program that DMI info afterwards.

Like I said - Still learning and hopeful I can fix this expensive laptop. I'm happy that I have at least learned how to do hot air soldering and how to use the CH341A properly! All I need is a working file and I think I'm good! Thanks for hosting this website. This will be a miracle saver and I'll contribute some money to it if I can get a good file!
