I'm a beginner technician diving deep into hardware repair, especially Macs and vintage PCs. My current obsession is figuring out the quirks of EFI/BIOS flashing—specifically for an **iMac 21.5" Late 2012 (A1418)** I'm reviving. Still learning the ropes (and making plenty of mistakes along the way), but every fixed board feels like a tiny victory.

My journey started with tinkering on old laptops and replacing caps, but now I'm venturing into schematics, soldering, and firmware hacks. Big thanks to communities like this for sharing knowledge—without them, I'd still be staring at a multimeter like it's a magic wand.

When I'm not frying components, I'm probably scavenging for dead electronics to practice on or lurking in repair threads. Happy to be here and eager to contribute where I can!

Hello all - I came across badcaps a few months back. It was the result of a search of my corrupt bios. I'm still working on that Vostro but will continue to fight on. Computers never cease to amaze how intricate they are and how varied the fields related to them. I'm learning but it comes slowly. Thankyou to The Boss for implementing and growing a well-used site. And thanks to the helpers who make it work.

Good day, I've been in electronics from childhood. I have created my own circuits for home use and developed some circuits for companies that requested my help. I'm almost over with the trade, but there is a little worm in my brain that keeps my curiosity lit and leads me to learning new techniques and update myself.
