Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

      Hello all,
Just new here and a brief look around I think this should be a good forum to be a part of. I have repaired an LG TV that had some bad caps. Have had a couple monitors at work die and were resurrected with a few new caps. Sort of frustrating to know that the designs could have been made more reliable with better quality parts.
Hope to pick up a few more tips on fixing monitors and TVs that seem to die before their time.

Oh yes, my name is Chuck.

Instructions for fixing dying LCD monitor/TVs landed me here. At the risk of being a bore: The instant the screen turns on press the menu button, select display brightness & reduce it to about 25%; save/exit. It beats replacing the LCD driver caps, yes it does. It's not my idea, but it's so cool I had to share it again, thank you. Did I mention it beats buying a new 52in TV and thank you, again? I'm a materials quality assurance specialist; I'd explain more but reading my job description several times rendered me utterly speechless so not. My philosophy is if you have to buy a new one then you're loosing money. It may cost a lot to fix the old one, but your investment in fixing the old one is an investment multiplier that you will leverage to fix it in the future; in other words you're not just saving the money you would spend on a new one, your saving the money you would spend to replace the item many times over an over. So you guys rule.

Hi, I joined this forum as I hope it can help me to fix my Plasma TV.
I'm Dutch, 58y old, back ground in electronics.
I did not repair TV's for over 25 years, so need to catch up with current TV technology. So my Plasma TV is kind of a hobby project.

Hi, trying to replace jack connector on HP ENVY DV6 and needed the right schematic in order to find the jack part number.
Registering already helped me a lot and thus I wanted to thank you all for sharing those datas.

            Good day !

Hello all, was searching for info to aid fixing my laptop.... now only if there were some eyes available too, o.m.g. how things have shrunk! I know I`m getting old but really?? If i cant see the component how can I read what's on it....
I use 52. magnification. hmmm maybe I should have used mr magoo as a user name..
Anyhow I have lots of parts (I`m willing to share) projects in various stages of abandonment and reams of info for old transceivers. I like things that smoke, diesel 4x4`s and frying electronics.

Greetings from the beautiful Niagara Region in Ontario Canada.

I have always rebuilt/reuse whenever practical ... grease and oil are your friend on a farm !!

I got here because my two Hans 28" monitors are officially dead. I have got to get them fixed before my eyes completely leave my head bcz I am working on a 15" screen backup monitor.

Trouble is that I have carpal tunnel, so my hands jitter, and have no training or tools for doing the repair. Also, I cant just walk into a local TV shop with PS in hand, they want their minimum $30 to take it out of the monitor. Fixed income goes only so far.

I have already read my way through BadCaps thread for the PS in question. I thank all those that contribute their expertise and share their experience. Im going to take the best that applies to my PSs and order a cap kit, and see if I can find a way to do the repair.

                    Jonny

I'm here to work through some problems with my Acer AL1917 LCD monitor. I have a long history of working with computers, all the way back to the IBM System 360. I haven't done much circuit testing and component replacement in a long while. It will be nice to pick up a soldering iron again.

Hi there! Noob to you guys' forum but not-so-noob to the capacitor wars

Found y'all after searching for the caps needed for my Hannspree HF257HPB which has recently done the flickering / 2 second thing. Was hoping to get a schematic before I ordered the caps, but I got impatient

Anyhow, hope to learn much from y'all! Just be gentle.
