Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Just joined the site. I am admittedly a hack. I have years of experience with thermal electronics and lasers, some on CNC controlled machines. I am currently a Network Operations Center Technician with a Telco. I have dabbled with electronics for years. I struggle at board level without a schematic. Married, have 2 grown sons, and 50 years old.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Well, I'm just doing the obligatory introduction post. I'm Chris; I'm from around Buffalo (NY). I'm an electronics hobbyist; that is, I fix things (and sometimes get paid to do it).
I'm into anything that can be taken apart, it's like adult legos. Cars, computers/electronics, amps, TV's, you name it. I'm also big on sharing any information I can to help others.

Hello Everyone
I am a computer specialist from Saint Lucia, a small Island in the Caribbean.
I have been repairing computers for some time now and thought that I may have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share, and gain from others here.
I look forward to the our exchange of and ideas and thoughts.
Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
I'm new here; joined because of a rising interest in electronics and wanted to get deeper than the surface of swapping parts, want to get into soldering and I think this is the best place to start.

Howdy,
This is the first time I've had to repair something at the component level on a PC that hasn't worked out...so now it's time to bring in the badcaps big guns for help!
Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello, I am Graham.
I grew up in the years when TV's used bottles and I recall the dread of looking at equipment with "mud-mold" capacitors.
Capacitor dielectric material got better, but wet electrolytic's remain a curse.
I was at Uni for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
The later is my day job, but I like to maintain some capability in the repair department, with a never ending feed of all manner of jobs from relatives etc.
I joined here after studying a thread related to a Sony KDL 46W5500 which was uncharted territory for me.
That was most useful and gave me confidence to place an order for a replacement TCON module; I'll add comment to the particular thread, which was live in 2013.
Cheers all.
