Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Good morning from a sunny civil unrest filled South Africa haha.
My name is Gian, i am in the pro audio repair market, i only have life-school electronic understanding but do tend to get some stuff done/repaired.
I work in a privately owned music shop, mainly doing repairs that range from making up HQ audio cables to restringing guitars. I do need help sometimes with things and feel that this forum would be a great asset to my knowledge and work.

New to Forum 10-14-2016... brief intro.
I am a recently retired public school district technology department supervisor, and was originally an electronics teacher. (...retired after a 40 year career in public education)
Nevermind DOS, Windows, etc.; when I went to college, we keypunched our programs onto cards, handed the deck of cards into the computer center, and came back a couple of days later to get our printout for the inevitable task of reviewing it for programming errors! So, I've seen and worked with it all, at one point being the school district's "Palm Education Training Coordinator" in the very early "PDA", pre-smartphone days.
So, hello to all here!

I'm an electrical engineer (FSU) who has been an electronic tinkerer since early junior high. My job in power plant and transportation simulation has enabled me to pursue my electronic design desires.
I am close to retirement, which I hope means I will have plenty of time to peruse this web site.

Hello gang, I'm Dave from NY..my Viewsonic tv is on the fritz and being raised by parents who talk about the Great Depression and coming from a family of 6 kids we were never one to waste anything..I'm an oldtimer, Social Security age and a retired phone company field tech..I'm no electronics whiz by a long stretch but am pretty geeky, can fumble my way thru a volt/ohm meter and simple schematics so I thought I'd try and see if this is a "simple" fix as I hate the new "throw-away" world..see you @ the board!

Hello my name is Jamie. I have been working on electronics for 22 years. I started at the age of 14 at my Uncle's computer store in Santa Cruz, CA. Since then I worked at Radio Shack for 8 years, and now have my own thing going parting out broken screen TV's on eBay. I love working with electronics even though sometimes it can be stressful. I am here to continue learning and help others if I can.

Hi
I'm 62, MS EE, but little practical experience. I got my degree right before 911 and was out of work for some time. Finally got some tech work but NO design stuff. I have forgotten a lot but I understand it all. Doing retail rep field work now. I keep sending in the resumes......
I just wrote a lot more and it wiped out so this is version 2 with the basics.

Hi, my name is Justin and I'm very new to electronics repair. I've tried to become a better DIY'er since becoming a home owner. I hate tossing electronics, especially if it seems like the damage is minor and repairable.
I found this site while searching for solutions to a problem with a Panasonic Viera plasma television. I've read nearly every post for my particular model, but still am not confident that I have a correct diagnosis. Hopeful for some help.
I am swimming with SHARKS!!! I am just a guppy who loves new and shiny and I love TV!!! I am here to get some assistance on fixing the backlighting issue I have on my dinosaur Westinghouse because I just can't afford to replace it right now. I am a cancer fighter and I am not working right now so all I have is my television.
It is a Westinghouse LD-4655vx and the backlighting in the corners is going bad. I am not a tech genius but I am capable of making small repairs with the correct guidance.
I have been reading some of the posts I am in the company of wizards!!! So help a bored mom out
