Veloleo here: I'm new to the BadCaps site. I found it while trying to troubleshoot my PN64F8500XFXZA Samsung Plasma TV. I bought it about 3 years ago and it ran successfully for a year and a half. Then intermittent turning on. Calls to Samsung Support informed me that no support was possible. After many hours on youtube. I got my screwdriver out and took the back off to try to find out what was failed. Ultimately, I discovered my Vs and Va voltages would not stay initiated. Flashed on but then off and bled down to zero volts. The Logic board was active with a solid 15.5 VDc and 5.3 VDc supply and a slowly blinking LED. Instructed by Youtube I removed the ribbon cable from the logic board to the Y Sustain board and powered up the TV. I measured Vs voltage to be 211 Volts, and Va voltage to be 57.5 volts. Power supply is ok. Y Sustain board is bad. Help!

Hi All.

Long time tinkerer, here, and have always been able to repair most things electronic/mechanical, many times with a bit of logic, experience and good old fashioned luck.

I'm a loather of repairs where you just replace a board. Really puts a damper (i.e. $$$) on repairing things. Unfortunately, that seems to be the way most things are, now, and probably with the current problem that led me to this forum.

Hi everyone. My name is Steven from Toronto, Canada. I work as an IT Systems Administrator. I have lots of experience with computers. I started learning about computers with a Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Basic language. I have a Bachelors degree in Computer Hardware Engineering. Nowadays I do all kinds of stuff from websites, databases, BI reporting, troubleshooting servers and networking devices, etc.

I have a problem with a 28 monitor at home, which turns off a few seconds after I turn it on, and it does that around 3 times, but eventually it stays on after that. I heard that some capacitors maybe dying. That's how I found this forum and I hope I can get some help with that.

So ..... I am the teck at a plumbing HVAC company. I keep all the electronics humming. No formal education to speak of. I am self taught. i have three algorithms that the feds are interested in purchasing at this time. however they are short of the green to get it done. I build and install custom ground sensors (geo sensor)and and surveillance, in my spare time. Love all things new gack is my thing.
