Hello, my name is Daniel and I joined this forum to learn about repairs because I'm a little bit more interested on designing and building things instead of fixing them. When you build something and in the future will need to be repaired it's better to plan ahead.

          Hello from Wisconsin!!
I have next to no experience in electronics but willing to learn. I've built crossovers for speakers that I've built. Now I have a power supply on my sub that needs work. Sure I can spend the money and buy a replacement but I would rather find out what went wrong and how to fix it. Pretty excited about this new hobby!!

Greetings, my name's Mike, and I'm from Wakefield, QC. I got my first computer about 33 years ago. It was a Commodore 64C. Eventually, I got pretty sick of leaving it on and programming in BASIC for a few weeks, only to have the power trip, and loose half a month of typing, so I got a 1541 (5.25" disk drive.) Eventually, it started to act up, and I popped the case, reseated every chip that I could, and it worked! From there, it was my love of AMiGA's, dissection of piles of devices / neighbours computers (only to have them work again!) / even dabbling a bit in Ardrino's, PWM and stepper motors. (That uses a 5A 55VDC coil to power it, if you ever want to have an arm wrestle, don't do it with that!)

Certainly I'll attempt to contribute where I can, but like most, I came here because I have questions! All the best and all the rest, ~MM~

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Happy to have joined this forum, Im actually getting the 7 flashes from my Panasonic Viera Plasma TV TH-58PZ850A, 2008 model, but I managed to clean out all the dust and cleaned all the fans with a can of compressed air and the TV is working again, On the Panasonic service manual it says the causes are the SU, SD or SC boards and fan related issues,

I managed to do some researched about changing parts on the TV and it looks pretty easy, (having built a few home PC) Ive managed to find all 5 main Components for my Plasma TV (SC, SU, SS, SD) all for less than $200 all tested and in working order the only thing I wasn't sure was the Power Board from the US being compatible with Australia, but the part Numbers are spot on.

Ive had my Plasma TV for 11 years now and this is the 1st problem its ever had also, Made in Japan, So for $300 bucks worth of parts its sure worth the price to save the TV just in case anything major happens I have the spare parts for it ready to go! I will eventually by Panasonic OLED, but I will keep my original plasma and use the spare parts to keep it going, still has a beautiful crystal clear picture, even better than the newer ones

Also I build my own PC and also into Vintage Stereo systems especially Marantz systems from the 70's and have a nice collection of components, hopefully by joining this forum I can learn and restore some of my marantz equipment... cheers

Hello world! (standard output from first computer program, right?)

I am a software developer and part-time electronics engineer/technician, programming computers at various levels and in various languages since about 1980 and working with electronics stuff about the same. This looks like a good place to share good information so here I am!

Greetings ! My name is Jerry, I am a ham radio nut for more than 50 years. I like to repair old vintage radios, aka boatanchors. Now retired, I am expanding my quest for knowledge and I am currently trying to repair an old Panasonic plasma TV on the component level. Lotsd of thru-hole soldering experience but almost zip with SMD and hot air pencils.... learning the hard way :-)

My name's Aric and I'm a software engineer(focus tends toward embedded but I've got irons in most fires...) with 25y experience coding, rev-enging and (re-)making stuff. I enjoy finding unique ways to solve problems using a mix of new and old based mostly on what I've got on hand, cost and how much time it will take to make something max out at 11. Glad to be a member of BC!

                              Hey guys!

I'm live in Hungary. Mostly I build PC-s at a local store, but sometimes I need to do some notebook repairs like LVDS replace, screen replace, etc. I try to learn board repair also, which is pretty difficult at the early stage ^^. Regards, Nandor

Hi. Jesper from Denmark signing in. Got my farther-in-law's Panasonic TX-P42G20E that 'made a large noise and went black' in for repair. I have found this forum to be the most informative so I'll poke around and find some advise.
