Hey guys, 18yo electronics student here.
I'm (like most here) interested in embedded system^^.
Joined because I managed to brick my laptop with a bios update, so I'm trying to reflash it.

HI all! I'm a computer and electronics tech in my late 50's in NZ, having abandoned a promising career 3 decades ago as a professional engineer (planning) in NZ's then leading (ex monopoly) telecommunications service provider. My brain is wired ADHD which makes me a fair problem solver but also means I spend time on all sorts of wonderful but unnecessary details!

First PC I ever programmed was actually a Dick Smith System 80 in 1982 (AKA Video Genie in the UK, a near-functional clone of the Radio Shack TRS-80 from the US). I bought my own one a couple of years later.
I bypassed the Apple II and IBM-PC and jumped straight into the world of the Apple Macintosh, which has been my main focus ever since (and yes, we suffered Bad Caps in Macs for a few years too)
Along the way I have also repaired the occasional PC and general electronics too.

These days as I hone my SMD rework skills, I'm getting more adventurous in board level repair, hence I found this forum.

          Hello!
          I'm a computer & communications engineer.
I fixed the Problem with the LG-TV.

          TCON was bad.
After change -> TV work fine again.

            Hello everyone,

I am from Portugal (Porto), I am 45 years old and have been passionate about electronics since I was a child. This is a hobby of mine and an area that fascinates me.

I found this forum through several searches about a problem I am facing with my PC's BIOS and I was extremely pleased to discover that there is a forum with such high quality as this one.

I hope to contribute with help to make this forum even better and to be an active member of the community.

            Best regards.

New to the forum, been in electronics 20 years and assembly programming back in the day but been defeated trying to fix a corrupt/bad 8FC8 PW lock.

If anyone can provide some suggestions (or I'd settle for an alternative working passcode at this point) on how to generate these on my own as this is the second time in 2 years I've had an issue with the damn 8FC8 😑.

My pain is a Latitude 7420 with service tag 6HMR5J3-8FC8

                  Thanks in advance for help/ideas

Hello, I'm new to the forum, I've been a repair tech for phone for almost 12 years and 3 years repairing PC and laptop now for new laptop I need more deep understanding about the EEPROM or bios some of these on HP units seems a bit hard to remove CMOS/Battery does not work.
That's the reason why I joined to this forum to learn more about repair PC and laptops. I'm not a perfect tech in laptop and PC so I hope to learn from you and get some ideas. I can also contribute to any kinds of problem as far as I know the solution.

Been working with PC's since I was 8 now main reason I'm joining is because I'm very interested in understanding how to mod, flash and rip bios'es since it's right now something I don't have experience (appart form having upgraded my main pc B550M K bios via the gigabyte Q-FLASH tool which was easy so I don't think that counts has anything) if anyone wondering I do have a CH431A programmer that I've yet to use which I wan't to use to give 8th and 9th gen cpu support via the coffe time tool to my HP Prodesk 400 G4 SFF that I use has server

I'm angry at how anti-consumer are all newer devices. Time to get control of our devices. Badcaps is step toward this future.

Hello everyone! i am just dipping my toes in the waters of flashing bios chips, unfortunately following an unsuccessful bios flash not voluntary.
                                    I have a p52 "20mas1ef00".

I dumped the flash contents of both chips 3 times and made backups, i am assuming the macronix 25l25673g "the bigger one" is the main bios chip.
Is there a way to patch the .fl1 or .fl2 files into the dumped bios file?
What about booting bootable usb update utility in qemu and extracting the flash contents?

Does anyone have a file for this model?
I do not need pw removed just a good bios flash.

If you need more information ask and i will provide, thanks in advance!

I just found this website because I was searching for my mobo dump, so I thought maybe I can find my solution here. If anyone has a dump for Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3i 15IAH8 tell me right away. Thankyou.
