                  Hello,
I'm Christian, a physicist and computer enthusiast from Hannover, Germany and I joined this forum to learn more about PCs or BIOS/UEFI programming specifically.

At 66 years old I decided to try and learn something new. As a young man I remember dreaming of owning a "new age" stereo system rather than being stuck with my parents old music player.

I eventually got a part time job and saved up enough money to buy a "sale" receiver at a radio shack. Wasn't the dream stereo I dreamed of but I got to play my kind of music and rather loudly 2 😀.

Fast forward to now. Retired and reimagining the old times. I looked at the old vintage equipment and still like the look, feel and sound.

My first purchase was a Hitachi ha-4500 with a tuner. It was recapped and nice for my small study except there's noise on input rca tuner Jack at times. If I jiggle the input jack it stops. Then the tuner will not remember the stations I set. So got me thinking I want to learn to repair my system.

I am studying up, slowly getting equipment to repair and even purchased a Kenwood ka-3500 that wasn't working for a few dollars. Funny thing is, plugged it in and works great except rca input jack for phono is broken. What's up with rca input's?

Anyways got a soldering iron, multi meter, made dim bulb light and a few other things. I'm disappointed the "hifi.engine" no longer is accepting new people. Seems like was great resource.

I am kind of shocked at prices for old vintage systems. But I believe one still find good systems out there in need of a little TLC and can also learn about audio repair even at my age.

Hi, nothing much to say, I like electronics and want to get into pc/gpu-board repair after tinkering with some easier boards on my DIYish rework station.

Hey everyone , new to the forum.
I'm here because I came to find information I could not find in detail though basic searches. Which led me to this page.

particularly looking for information on EFI chips, their locations, and other information on models of older macbook pro logic boards (pre T2 / arm chip models)

hoping to finally get some more insight and answers as I continue exploring
