Ok, thanks again. I will try what you suggest and you never know, hopefully come up with a fix, I will certainly write Samsung a stinking letter, not that it will do any good but it will make me feel better! I'll report back with any results.

  • Samsung LCD LE40D503 Horizontal Bar

    Hi.

Really hoping someone can help or at least point me in the right direction. This is a 40" Samsung LCD LE40D503, just over 2 years old and out of guarantee. This translucent horizontal band has appeared on the top third of the screen, it seems to change color depending on the background picture, the band is made up from vertical lines.

I haven't removed the back as yet and was just wondering if by looking at the attached pictures it could possibly be repaired or be a write off (hope not )

Twisting the screen or pressing the surround does not...

I have always built my own computers and tried to do my own electronic repairs to my present age of 50+. I guess it all started when my first jobs was in a tv and appliance repair shop, the boss only seemed to take on jobs that was worth his while so I sneakily used to try and repair these items after he had left for the day, and it worked! The customers were happy as their item was repaired, I was happy...
