I took the board out again.
Before removing the charger IC and EC chip, I measured the voltage in the SMBUS lines. I see 0.2V then it goes to 1.5 V , decreases and comes back to 0.2 . With an osciloscope I would be able to catch this more clearly......

Hey FriedFred!
Yes, twice.
I did measure , low resistance was the same without the charger IC soldered back...
Maybe I remove ITE and charger IC and measure the resistance again, but I think I did it once and same values.
But I can double check if it makes move forward...
Cant see this board anymoreFriedFred...

Hey mon2
a) OL on the battery connector. Same low resistance on charger side.
b) was already off the board. same resistance
c) I never had the baterry connected during any measurements
d) I couldnt find those
e) yes, always red probe on ground when measuring in diode mode. yes meter is in correct scalemon2...

Yes, not a dead short, but indeed low.
I can only track the SMBUS lines , data and clock, passing through those two 0ohm resistors , then the ESD 6 leg IC, then to charger IC, and finally to the ITE chip.
Ive changed all of these components, and never got higher resistance than this one ...
What a head hache...

Laptop turn on and POST OK
BUT
touchpad is not working
Could it be related with bios?

Hi mon2
Thanks for the inputs. Yes, voltage to ground diode mode, and resitance in Ohms.
I removed a 6 leg ESD IC, the one you can see on the picture above, that I asked help to identify here at this post.
Values remain the same.
Ive tried also 2 charge IC's and 2 ITE controllers, same values.... dont see where the problem is , and whitout a schematic or boardview , cant think on anything else...
These values are 100% bad and too low for SMBUS lines ? cant be any thing firmware related?mon2...

Hey guys!
Got his T480 bricked, turns on , no post. seems bios related.
Here's the original backup.
Board: ET481 NM-B471 rev 1.0
Laptop: Lenovo T480s
Type: 20L8-SBT00
SN:PC-12ZMY5
Could someone help me getting my dump fixed?
Thank you!!...

Thank you noname2024
So they are good... not sure what else to do here... still same problem does not see the battery level or charges battery.
But machine stays on when I remove DC charger... so frustrating
Maybe firmware related, im running out of ideas....noname2024...

Yes I installed 50 ohm resistors , new SIO and new Charge ic.
Same result
Machine turns on with orange light, but when it posts it goes blinking white light in the battery LED.
It detects DC mode as when I remove the charger, laptop stays on, but shows 0% battery level and of course does not charge it.
Could this be firmware related?
Seems weird as all blown/defective components have been replaced.
Bit frustrating......

Hello noname2024
Can you tell me the value of the 2 resistors betwwen the battery connector and the TVS chip ?
After replacing SIO and Charge IC laptop works but does not see the battery % nor it charges.
But it holds with the battery if I remove dcin.
So I think its data/communication issue, could be those 2 resistor.
They measure 0ohm both on the board.
Thanks if you can help!noname2024...

Thank you both!
Yes MELF 0207
What about the color band.
The red one being the thicker band means something? like last band or tolerance band?
or the reverse?

Is this some kind of fuse resistor ?
Hello guys
Taking a look at some KNX domotic modules that were toasted due to some kind of electrical failure, I found out 2 weird looking resistors.
Seem to me like some kind of fuse resistor?
After diggin a bit seems like a fuse wirewound resistor wafer or whatever that is
They are very toasted but I think the 5 band colours are RED GOLD BLACK ORANGE ORANGE or the opposite, not sure which is the first band.
The red band is larger than the 4 others, but I dont have much experience with these components.
Also one of the orange...

Help identifying diode - ST Microelectronics marking EUV C730
Hello all!
could someone help identifying this ST diode?
Marking EUV C730
Photo attached,
Thanks in advance!...

Perfect, danke for the info.
I will try to source one of these from another board or something after I replace the SIO and check if the board is alive again....
