  • Sharp LC-40LE431U Manual control buttons not working properly

I have a Sharp LC-40LE431U TV. The symptoms are when plugged in, the control buttons on the right side panel don't seem to want to work correctly. I get a solid red light. But when I press the Power button, it does not power on immediately. I have to keep pressing ALL the side buttons randomly until finally the solid green light is on. Then when pressing each additional button, they do not always respond correctly, if at all. Pressing the Volume button might bring up the Menu, or vise versa. Now, I help my friends and family with their computer repairs, both hard and software. For many of them, I maintain their computers remotely via TeamViewer. A few of them I have helped by replacing or repairing hardware components in their computers. I've repaired several of my own "blown" computers by replacing caps that were bad. Lately, I've repaired a DLP TV by replacing the...

Hello, I just joined the forum. I'm an old guy, living in Clearwater, Florida. I have no experience with repairing TV's. However, I have repaired some computers, replacing caps, power supplies, hard drives, etc. I came here to try to learn something about possibly repairing a TV of mine. I have an Emerson 32" LCD TV, model number LC320EM2. Originally, my import source was coax cable. But through repeated movement of the TV, the jack on the mainboard weakened and eventually broke off. So I bought an HDMI cable, and plugged...
